They're doing the Amtrak express scheme too!  Cool!

I remember seeing a couple of these tacked on to the end of the Coast Starlight in the late '90s.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Cool to see.
Let this counter the argument of those that claim a model cannot be offered of a car that was produced in too few prototype numbers and for too few roads .

I'm happy for these boxes, though I'm not sure if I just want one or two, or the whole 6 pack. Least its not the day I dread that they finally announce they are doing the Ski Train in N.

Lol, I finally figured out how to get Rapido to produce everything I want from them in N scale, switch to HO!  It seems like every announcement in HO bums me out that it is not in N Scale.

Looks like I might have to add 1 or 2 to the fleet.  I took this picture at the Gettysburg & Northern interchange track off the CSX Hanover Sub

I'll definitely pick up a six pack of these. I'm hoping they bring those Impalas to N scale.

I'm very glad to see these get done in N too. Must have for my Espee fleet.

Me too. Wondering if I should bump up two years...

I'll get one just to support the cause. I really wish they went with the 14' plug door box if they were going to go with a SP centric PCF car.

I going to get the Amtrak 3-pack to put at the end of my Amtrak ph III to IV era intercity train.
The UP’s are tempting but they need the comp stripes. Check that i can add the stripes. Lol

These are decades out of my layout/collection timeframe, but I did learn something I did not know- that Amtrak had some head end cars in a traditional dark green head end car paint scheme.  I've ridden my share of Amtrak trains over the years, but never saw one.  Took a trip to Colorado on the California Zephyr 17 (m/l) years ago, the train was hauling a couple of boxcars on the end when it left Chicago, but in a phase IV or VI livery- and honestly I did not pay enough attention to be able to specifically ID them by bodystyle.

Does anyone have any information on the green Amtrak cars?  Date range or use?  I will probably pick up one of the Phvi cars to go with my Kato train.

According to Don Strack, they would be 1997-2003. "The first group, numbered as 70000-70049 (50 cars), delivered in July and August 1997, were rebuilt from standard 50' cars built new for Southern Pacific in 1976. They were painted green, supposedly matching the green color used by the earlier Railway Express Agency. As the cars were rebuilt, most were repainted to Amtrak's standard Platinum Mist color to match the other cars in Amtrak's trains."
