LOL. Made ya look.
Yeah, you did. I should have read the link before clicking.  Here I was thinking it would be the EMD loco circa 1960.  But I am sure that folks who want modern tank cars are overjoyed.

I think these have an MSRP LOWER than the meat reefers of however many years ago.  And no issues with board gaps.  ;)

Oh well....back to my layout/collection set in 1956.

This is exciting to me! (these were built starting in 1969)

@rapidotrains  I'm highly annoyed that they only give us tiny artwork so I can't see the build dates :x - I need to figure which of the releases were on the rails in 1975. Looks like I have some homework to do!

Nice! Finally some Rapido stuff I can use!

I've been wanting to give them money for a long time, and now, finally, I can!

Copy and past of an email I sent to my 1970s CP Rail club when the HO ones (same paint schemes and artwork offered) were announced:

Quote
Paint scheme/applicability notes:

"UTLX Split P/As delivered" - yes yes yes and yes
"PROX Split P/As delivered" - changing reporting marks from UTLX to PROX was a post 1982 thing. I can use one or two at home, but the club should skip these.
"PROX modern (small logo)" - same comment on PROX reporting marks; plus these modern version have "spreadsheet" style qualification stencil tables that are a 90s(?) plus thing
"PROX modern (large logo)" - same comment as above, plus this has post-2004 reflective striping
"CP" - has modern qualification stencils; acquired after our time period
"BCOL" - same, and also not applicable to our area
"NCTX North American" - yes yes yes
"UTLX/Alberta as delivered" - maybe just one or two for a special pool?
"PROX/Alberta later" - see above comments on PROX reporting marks (post 1982)

TLDR: We need UTLX and NCTX as delivered versions, the others are out of era/scope. I'm definitely in for some as-delivered UTLX, NCTX, and "as-delivered but re-marked" PROX for myself as well, that finishes off my general service tank fleet for local fuel dealers.

(I model 1985 at home.)

Key date indicators:

Procor did not use PROX reporting marks before 1981. Before that they used UTLX marks. Heavy renumbering of UTLX to PROX happened in the mid 1980s.
The Procor logo change from the "split P" to Futura workmark was 1977, but the model artwork depicts patched cars with later data elements making them late-1990s patches.
Consolidated stencils: 2-panel mandated 1974+, 3-panel mandated 1982+
Qualification tables (spreadsheet data looking things on right end of car side): 1998+
Yellow reflective stripes: 2004-5+

Also this resource is VERY helpful for Canadian cars:

http://nakina.net/private/private.html

NCTX cars were built in 1973.

UTLX/Procor cars were built from 1969 through the early 1980s. Their roster is.... messy.... with lots of non-contiguous number groupings, but you can check the Rapido numbers against the roster in the link above.

The group with Alberta logos was built in 1969, but that may or may not be a late 1970s repaint...

Tank cars appropriate for the early 1980’s with what appears to be proper ride height?  Sold.  Order forth coming.

Thanks Chris! I still need the build dates on the "as delivered" UTLX cars (probably the only ones I'd bite). Hopefully all will be revealed.  :D

Oh for the love of all that is holy in every religion on Earth, why do we need another GP20? Did the Canadians have some unique versions that Rapido thinks will sell well north of the border?  It's not like we don't already have rolling stock this size, though substantially cheaper.

But I have a feeing Rapido will sell out and make a mint.

Hehe, gotcha. :RUEffinKiddingMe:

The "new" dates are actually in the artwork of the 10 cars, you just have to enlarge it enough for your monitor. Right-click (or whatever for your browser) on the image to display just the image in its own page. Enlarge until happy  ;)  as there are plenty of pre-1975 dates represented.

Ok, thanks - I finally get it.  :D UTLX cars were all re-labled PROX in the 1980s. Looks like they kept the same numbers.

Nice Pic of HO PROX 47678: https://rapidotrains.com/sites/default/files/2020/09/135-Image1.jpg (Blt 7-73 according to the pic)

I'm assuming that I would see the UTLX on US rails, but probably not a lot of the Canadian stuff rolling the rails near the Kentucky - West Virginia border in 1975.
Based on the link Chris gave, it looks like of the cars that Rapido announced:
  • UTLX 47900-47919 series were built 1969-1970
  • UTLX 47678-47737 series were built 1973

I'm assuming that I would see the UTLX on US rails, but probably not a lot of the Canadian stuff rolling the rails near the Kentucky - West Virginia border in 1972.

They're all Canadian cars. But they definitely would have made it to the US, shipping from Canadian shippers, but probably in comparatively low numbers the father out you get.

The UTLX cars are Procor cars.... Procor just didn't use their own reporting marks until the 1980s. Prior to that they used the marks from parent company UTC. Once they got their own marks, just painted out the UTLX and replaced it with PROX.
