Well, as somebody who was born in the city of Sleepy Eye, it might be appropriate for me to lead off.  :)

With the unseasonably warm weather (and an unsupervised evening  :D), I was able to open the windows and paint the recently-laid track at the west end of Cedricsburg Yard. The first run of ballast is down and awaiting glue and a dusting of grout. And plenty of touchup after that.  :D

(Sorry for the lousy cell phone pic. Better stuff coming eventually.)

I completed a Rocket Express R.I. boxcar.  Nice kit.  I did lower it and the decals were a real challenge.

Like some others I've been distracted with 3D printing over the last week. I found a file for what appears to be a Pullman Standard 84" and after 4-5 8h single side test prints on a Prusa Mini have something somewhat passable. If not for the cruelty of the photography lens.

yeesh. Looked a lot nicer to my eyes. But its good enough as a train filler. Definitely going to need a couple passes of refinement before I call these things good enough but this is still way better than what I thought lower end FDM printers where capable of.

Wait, that's from a FDM?!   :o

I must be working in draft mode too much.  I still kinda don't believe that's not resin!

Some may have seen in the Free-moNebraska thread,  I've dusted off my printers and am working on the second bridge for Plattsmouth!

And to prove it's not just rendering hype, here are the first pillars printed and installed!

With luck, I'll have a couple spans of deck beams printed by the end of the weekend.

I think this iteration took 9h total to print. Next version will probably be around 11h once I get Ironing set up how I want. I'm certain the detailed run of those bridges will be quite the longform project when you get to it. Though are there any areas that could benefit from variable layer heights? Messing around with those settings halved the print time for me. Even small time savings will add up big time on something like that.

Meanwhile, back at old-school 'hack 'em up'.... I finished my NW5 project for Tom.   I have to say it, that Bachmann RS3 chassis REALLY runs well.

Now on to the NW-3, proving again that the reward for solving a difficult problem is a more difficult problem to solve!

Got the Rapido news letter today. My CP Rail “The Canadian” trainset should be arriving in about a month. That is all.

I got the same newsletter - BOTH my Canadians should be arriving in the same time frame (whoopee!) (cue joke about the real Canadian’s timekeeping, when it was running...)
Time for a new N scale announcement from Rapido?

Warning Western Modelling Content, North East Rail Fans run..............  :D :D
Attempting a second Santa Fe Texas Type with new shells. This only has one cut and splice, needs one more.

You might recognize the origins of the model  :o

Been super busy lately, but I finally got a chance to finish one of my BLMA spine set upgrades.  This includes 3-d (resin) printed replacement hitches, end platforms, and coupler pockets.  The model was finished with some relatively heavy weathering and something like 70 conspicuity stripes.

And a comparison to a stock model:

I'm so glad to be able to put these into service now.

Great job on the RI car. One of my favorites, too.  I recall the couple I did took an hour to paint, an hour to assemble, and 4 days to decal.  But worth the effort.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.
