Didn't Kato make U30C (their first loco using their revolutionary low-friction trucks)?  I think I have a D&H stashed deep in my train stuff.

I don't know about HO, but I have a Kato N Scale U30C from about 1990. They release the U30C about once every 25 years.

I hope they will do another run of BLMA 100T trucks. I still need several sets.

This!  I have a half-dozen backordered at the LHS  :(

No, I mean U30C: http://archive.atlasrr.com/HOLoco/arc-hou30c.htm First released last century.

The announcement for this month is a new phase for the U30C.

What's the difference between the 8-40BW and 8-32BWH? I know Amtrak had the 8-32BWH's, but I don't see why Atlas isn't calling them that. Aren't they physically the same?

I thought it was something with the Cab... But I assume H means HEP.. (but I'm not sure if Atlas ever tooled a body to factor in whatever changes were made for HEP.. (if any))..
Edit..
Looks like long hood and fuel tank.. maybe cab too..

And Long hood (between engine compartment and cab)

Has anyone done a 3D front coupler pocket for the plows?

~Ian

It wasn’t that hard to scratch build one using a True Scale coupler

They have not released an official update, but the FA & FB now have actual models as the product photos instead of the renders on the Atlas website.

Finally! I'm ecstatic they are finally doing more Amtrak Phase V B32s since they pull a premium on the auction sites and other groups. It's interesting that they say "WITH DECK MOUNTED DITCH LIGHTS" and "WITH PILOT MOUNTED DITCH LIGHTS". I wonder if they are now going to be functional ditch lights, as previous runs the ditch lights would have to be drilled out for the pilot versions.

Also wondering if the Gold Versions will come with the new LokSound V5 decoders. @Atlas Paul any help on the ditchlights and decoders?

And glad to see the BLMA detail parts are back, those BLMA99 sets are definitely needed as well as well as a few others.

Best news from Atlas for me in a long while.

Yes, they will be functional ditch lights. In taking to an Atlas rep last year at the Springfield show (that feels so much more than a year ago), they stated that the ditch lights will be added to models as they work though their tooling upgrading engines to ESU loksound. The lights will operate much like the ones in the C40-8W with a small PC board, SMDs and individual light tubes.

Their website says first quarter this year -- maybe they'll arrive along with the US's herd immunity achievement.

Kato never offered the U30C in HO.

The 40 has a 7FDL-16 and 8 engine room doors on each side of the long hood, 32 has a 7FDL-12 and 6 engine room doors (and HEP for passenger service)

I noticed that too.   Did they ever do deck mounted ditchlights on these before?

Well, that is interesting.  I wonder if it will be possible to get parts to help convert older models.

I don’t believe they have ever done deck mounted on these before. As for replacement parts, I’d gladly take one to swap out my existing Phase V with working ditch lights. No biggy as now I can always regulate it to trail only too.
