Looking nice Ed! I’m digging that random tie spacing in the yard. It kind of gives that feeling from watching that Penn Central film that was sent to Congress, soliciting help or a bailout.

Thanks! I actually wrote up a how to on it.

I'm really digging the look and feel of that yard, bound by the steel building along the backdrop and the crossing on the far end. Very cool.

Thanks! I'm trying to keep it as authentic feeling as possible. It's not 100% accurate for either the late 70s or today, but the hope is that if you've ever been to the real one you'll think you're there, and vice versa.

I think you meant tie-red, right?

If it’s any consultation, they really help tie it together and the yard looks awesome

Yards can be very needy.  Everything about them has to work really well, or they can quickly devolve into the most frustrating part of model railroading.

Looking good... so how does it work since you corrected the track spacing?  Are the ladders all smooth and wired up?

Truth.

So far so good. Luckily I didn't have to mess with the ladders, so they SHOULD still be good. I plan on testing them a bit more after I paint the track and before I ballast, just to be sure.

That’s a good thought. I might just do it by subtly coloring ties. We’ll see.

I've been moving along with prep for scenery.

The track is now painted. Probably going to put some more work into that before ballast, but it's coming along.

You can see some of the reference photos here: https://conrail1285.com/windsor-st-reference-photos/

There's some REALLY good ***** in there, but I think these really show what I'm going for.

Here are some in-progress photos.

I started by brushing this Nutmeg color up onto the side of the rails. I felt like that dried a little too light so I followed that up with Espresso.

Then I used Raw Umber on the ties.

I've since drybrushed some more on there but haven't gotten photos. I plan on making more progress this weekend.
