Yaabut how many manufacturers need to make this model. Atlas, Atheran and Exactrail kinda have the market corned don't they? Even though I'm sure TrainWorx will make an excellent model.....

Actually we could use another manufacturer making the early low side body.  The Atlas car is decades old Walthers' tooling, and Exactrail hasn't shown much interest in releasing many road names or much N scale in general.

This is not new tooling. The other players with the high side 4427 are MicroTrains (sporadic releases) and Athearn. With a very large number of paint schemes, there is room for all.

As Jason pointed out, we could use an active producer of a low side. Exact Rail did one (1) run and promptly parked the tooling. Atlas now owns the 1990s vintage Walthers low side tooling. We are currently in a drought for this type of covered hopper.

Yeah, this isn't new tooling.  I've got a Milwaukee car from a previous release.

I look forward to getting some of the NP cars to go with the one I kit-bashed many years ago.

This will hurt for me between the Rock and Cargill releases.

I am kind of tempted to get these for a small YN2 era switching layout I am thinking of doing with a few GP’s.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

That'd be cool. All you need to do is find the right industry that uses them and you are COVERED.

I am thinking of a transflo facility like the one next to the FT Lauderdale Amtrak station.

The B&O 4427's were built with round hatches rather than trough hatches, but I don't recall the specific type of service they were used for...

Fwiw you see old beatup CSX hoppers across the prairies in fertilizer service... Not sure if it is phosphate or something else? ...but I would guessing loaded somewhere down south.   :D
