@scaletrains - will the KCS reporting marks look like the N scale artwork or like the HO model with the same number?

This is really a great announcement and I'm looking forward to them.

Is the multiple order deal for multiples of the SAME road name or mix and match on the total order?
I've put one of 6 different paint schemes in my cart and it's showing $44.99 each ($269.94 total).
1-5    $44.99/each
6-11 $42.99/each
12+  $39.99/each

Thanks!

Jason:  I hope they look like the HO model.  They're way out of my era, but I've seen enough on the way to work (NS mainline) to see the mistake on the N scale artwork.

REGARDING THE BULK PRICING: my personal experience with ScaleTrains in the past is that they create an invoice for you to pay when you order comes in and will adjust it for the correct volume pricing.  EVEN IF THEY DON'T you can still contact them and they will recalculate the amount and send you a new invoice.  In the past the volume discounts applied over all cars and not just a specific paint scheme, given my experience.  ScaleTrains is AWESOME to work with!

Awesome, getting a few.
Time to body mount and lower my old RC, Atlas  and MT autoracks to go with this

Decisions decisions. I have 3 sets (12 cars) of the Intermountain/FVM auto racks reserved from the announcement a few months ago. Looking at their site the status is now in queu for production so it looks like they are moving forward.  I love the scale trains stuff, have a decent amount of it. Not sure what to do.

I think I like the details of the FVM better from what I have seen of both.

What would you do?

In all seriousness they are different prototypes and you see both in trains still...

I like the way you think, but I'm not sure I can sneak that much scratch out of the house.

I love the idea of the etched metal panels of the FVM models. As long a they make them I might stay there.

Fair enough... I can relate for sure...

FWIW the exRed Caboose cars are gorgeous... I wouldn't be disappointed to have them...

Without seeing one in the flesh, its tough to make any decision. I would however consider price. Scaletrains looks cheaper at the moment, but as to quality...?
Buffering...

I think it's a challenge to make plastic look like metal. For me, etched metal is one of the main features of the Red Caboose (now FVM) autoracks. Seeing through them is a real bonus.
Micro-Trains also uses metal and looks good even though it's not AS see-through as the RC racks.
Kato released autoracks with all-plastic sides with printed details to make them look like the prototype since there isn't enough "air" in the prototype to model it effectively.
Con-Cor plastic just look their age.

It's tough to make a decision how many of these ScaleTrains I will buy. If they look like the HO model, it will be an awesome win. For me, it will come down to how metallic the plastic panels look. The rest of the details and the painting is crisp. Very nice.

I think this will be settled with some good closeup photos/video of the N scale version.

1-5    $44.99/each  x 5 = $225 plus tax and shipping
6-11 $42.99/each  x 11 = $473 plus tax and shipping    5% off per car.
12+  $39.99/each  x 12 = $480 plus tax and shipping.  12% off per car.

So buy 12 and the 12th car will effectively cost you $7.

Some discount is better than none, but that's gonna be a mighty expensive unit train.

Also interesting that most roads you cannot get enough road numbers to get to the 12+ discount.
