Anybody have a Photon Mono X?

Ok, so the wash and cure machine, 2.0.  Nothing on the Anycubic site tells you what fluid to wash the prints in.  Warm water? Alcohol?  Do you leave that fluid in there and replace it every so often?

John, I use 91 or higher % Alcohol. You do leave it in the container. It comes was snap on lid that seals pretty well. After it has sit for awhile the left over resin is supposed to settle at the bottom, you then pour the mostly clean Alcohol into another container, leave a little with the resin, pour this into a separate container to get rid of. Then refill the container with Alcohol.

I use 99% IPA and it works well.  Every so often I filter it through a coffee filter to clean out small bits of cured resin, but otherwise just leave it in the sealed container.  As a final wash step, I dip cleaned parts in a jar of acetone for a few seconds to make them truly spotless.

For curing, I am now sold on putting the parts in a jar of water while they are exposed.  They seem to be less brittle afterwards (but definitely well cured).

I’m in. Took the plunge today on the Mono X and the cleaning station. Now I have to design and build a wall mounted cabinet to keep it in and to keep it near my exhaust fan system that I use for my spray booth.Thinking a motorized platform that will raise and lower the printer into the cabinet, with enough space below to put the wash station.

How smelly are these resins, really? Guess I will find out soon enough.  Have not decided on a resin yet, and will likely do the screen protector trick that @timwatson and @Chris333 posted.

I was impressed with the flexible mix in one of the videos in that thread as well.

Seriously. I’m actually kinda geeked about it. All the discussion here and on FB, but @GaryHinshaw and @SkipGear ’s collective work convinced me.

I started thinking of all the ideas I have coming to life in minutes instead of weeks.

Not looking forward to the calibration work though, but I really do want to compare prints to my CAD, and I am praying I won’t be disappointed.

Also I started thinking about all of the modeling things I might need, I.e. PRR specific trucks, I can just print and have them for a model right away. Gonna need a huge, labeled multi-drawer stiorage case for each class of truck.

To me the resin smell is way less than the smell of alcohol, but everyone is different.

 You already have the part that most people struggle with nailed, creating the drawings. You will just need to play around a bit and get a feel for what works for you. I'm a prime example of that, my settings are very different from the normal suggestions but they work for me. I was showing a customer at the shop my caboose today and he said may have just pushed him to finally jump in.  You may still end up using shapeways for your final prints for customers but it is so nice to be able to run something and have it in your hands in a few hours to see if it will really work or not. I won't show you all the incomplete versions of the caboose as every time I ran a print and looked at it, I realized I forgot something, or another thing could be done better.

I agree with Chris, the resin is not the problem, cleaning afterwards is what bothers me. My printer is setting 2' away from me right now with resin in it and I don't notice it one bit.

Congrats!!  You'll love it.   It's completely changed my approach to modelling - especially the ability to iterate quickly when something isn't perfect.  Of course, progress on my layout has ground to a halt...
