Hmmm, so no 73100 (early Atlas) replacement, just a 73199 replacement. But the can't wait to see the Nano LokSound and the Kato.
Yeah kinda bummed they didn't announce a replacement for the 73100. Maybe time will tell.
From my understanding....73199 will have a similar V5 counterpart eventually I believe.73100 was designed to fit an engine that AFFA then changed the design of the mechanism on. Those actually never ended up in anything besides aftermarket installs (and what I did for Kato..I machined the ES44's they offered with Loksound to take those. I actually got the last of those from ESU). There will be no replacement of this exact design in the V5 family. Now wink wink nudge nudge for something that is coming in the next month or so that I've had quite a bit of input on. :*Anywhoo...Happy New Years everyone. I'm crawling back into my cave to continue installing V5 micros in lots of SDP40F's as the spice must flow....Enjoy!Kelley.www.dufordmodelworks.com Soon.
Are the 73100 EOLed then? Will there be any more production?
Yes. Nothing is available from ESU. Only what's in dealer stock currently. Streamlined Backshops and Yankee Dabbler are out as are most common sources. All detailed here: Loksound Select Direct Micro 73100 availability?
Most applications that I used the 73100 for will end up working with the new ESU Kato board. This new board design *should* also fit into another half dozen engines the 73100 and 73199's don't really work in.When I have samples, I'll release a detailed list of confirmed units it will fit in along with any modifications necessary.I'm going to be a busy fool when those are actually finished with production at ESU. I have around 1000 on order. Enjoy!Kelley.www.dufordmodelworks.com
Yeah - thanks Kelley. Was going to ask you what you knew, and sort of expected the Kato board would be useful elsewhere (since the 73100 worked in some Katos, with mod)I am actually much more excited about the new Nano board (and really want to see dimensions and details). This could be a game changer, if done correctly
I'm interested in the Nano as well, although I'm a bit confused as to what they mean by it's "designed to connect to new version of the LokSound 5 Direct the has an integrated Power Pack". It's designed to connect to another sound decoder? Huh? Is this the no-motor one they mentioned in the video? May have to go back to watch again.
