Republic Locomotive works - Website down.... not closed!

So for those that haven't heard, Republic Locomotive Works website is down for over a week now, following a third party acquisition of their website host.  Marshall and his team are furiously trying to get a new page up and running.  They are hoping to have something back on line soon after Thanksgiving.

In the meantime, he asks patience, and appreciates your support and continued business.

Contacting them is a challenge as this move also impacted their email, so he suggests using an alternative email address of RLW871 (AT) Gmail.com or giving him a call at 360-577-6479.

(I have no relationship with RLW or Marshall, other than just being a past satisfied customer).

Would be nice to see a new website for them...the one they had was horribly dated.

Glad they're still in business!  When the site's back up I'll be ordering decals; they have some N scale Colorado Midland passenger car decals no one else makes.

On the Nn3 group list he talked about it not even being worth it with so few orders anymore.

Oh, well then I'd better not wait.  That said, absent a website I don't know what all else I'd be in the market for off the top of my head.  At least 3 sheets of the passenger car decals in gold though.

Problem with website? Our Host Bluehost contacted us 2 years ago saying the were going to do a PHP upgrade. Bruce determined that the language he used could not be upgraded and it would cost $10,000 to fix. I called Bluehost and at that time they told me it would not affect us. Well it did when some idiot made the change. Their rep said we gave you 2 years and then without warning they killed us. Bruce will try to bring it back from the grave but this may be our death blow. I have had so few orders lately that it probably won’t matter.

In the mean time we will have to revert back to the old days. To order send an email order to rlw871@.... I will respond in 1 to 2 days. To pay you can send your card information in multiple emails or call 360-577-6479. Sorry for the inconvenience.

On a positive note Tom has finished the drawings for the McDonald sawmill so it will be available soon.

I just called him an ordered a bunch of decals.  He confirmed that he's not sure how much longer he'll be in business.

If you want RLW stuff, don't wait.

That's bad news, and not just for narrow gaugers.

Thanks for this post, I've contacted him.... sympathy and help...and an order.

There's enough web guru's around here to fill a passenger car, so if you care about Marshall and what he's trying to do, consider offering help.   I suspect he's in for either surrender or major rebuild, and he's pretty much the only guy out there with an inventory of every imaginable steam detail part, all the oddball GHQ leftovers, the Nn3 stuff, top-end N building kits, on and on.

I know on my own stuff, it's about a 50% mix of actual kit orders and custom builds of my kits to order, it's a different world.   And none of us last forever.   But I couldn't have done what I've done without him supplying parts.

Maybe someone should post a "WANTED - web designer volunteer" in the Crew Lounge section?

Did get hold of Marshall on the phone and got my order processed.

Apparently the 'root cause' of this was the website ISP was sold, upgraded with no warning...bang.   website is shot.

He is working at rebuilding it, thinks he'll make it.   He's excited about the new kit for the water powered small sawmill.     I'm not sure if this is it or not, he was referring to the first sawmill in the western hemisphere, this may be the right one:  https://historicnovascotia.ca/items/show/224

But he's definitely looking for an exit strategy here.   I had no idea he had so much inventory, laser and casting equipment, etc.

I would recommend if you want something, sympathy is one thing, orders are another, recommend the latter.

Ed K, offered some website help, and provided his email few messages earlier. Has anyone relied that info to Marshall (in case he does want to get the website back up)?

https://www.republiclocomotiveworks.com DOA at the moment

Hopefully the phone still works: (360) 577-6479

I was looking at the site on the internet archive (https://web.archive.org/web/20190126235750/https://www.republiclocomotiveworks.com) to see if I can put an order together - unfortunately the online catalog does not seem to function in archive form.
