I'd be happy to start a thread covering the build, and the lessons learned.  I still have many more to build, but all the steps are now clear, so that would be timely.

Yes, yes, yes. Please do the thread. Preserve and extend the knowledge.  :D

To truly preserve (well, at least extend) the knowledge, images would have to reside in the Railwire gallery. People's websites come and go, but for as long as the Railwire is online, so are its images.

Just playing around with some layout video.

Not too much else happening on the layout or workbench at the moment due to the arrival of warm spring weather down here.

Yep, a train in the A-hole.  Sounds painful!

More F40PH madness...

I had a NIB Amtrak F40 sitting around and decided to dunk it in paint striper and convert to a Phase II MBTA unit. The major differences being a lack of dynamic brakes and standard half height fans rather than the low profile underslung Q fans of the Phase III.

With the DB fan hole plugged and waiting Milliput, I replaced the radiator fan grid a part from an old Atlas GP40-2. Fans were hollowed out and shaved down to the proper height and etched parts from Trainworx used. Rivet strips are from Archer.

That leaves a few LL shells already detailed for the MBTA. Right now the plan is to make a plastic underframe and use these are dummies for static display. I'll still have 3 Kato units and that kit bashed F40PH-2C. That should give me more than enough engines for a rush hour operation session.

You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Tried-out weathering pencils on this boxcar.  More practice needed, I think.
