There are actually several Charger liveries from the various state/regional Amtrak services. The ALC-42 livery on the image I posted is actually a special scheme for one or two units (I believe it's related to Amtrak's 50th Anniversary next year) and not the final one that will be on all the new long-distance locos - that hasn't been designed yet.

I don't mind them, but you have to remember, that's not an Amtrak asset. It's owned by the states, not Amtrak, so the state decides how to paint the things.

Both Arnold and Electrotren (Spain) make the modern talgo that matches the Cascades trainsets.  The only thing you'd need to bash are the fairings.

These are the imported Electrotren models rebranded:  https://www.nscalesupply.com/erm/erm-talgo.html

Go Kato!
I like them locos. I'm sure Kato will make them. Or maybe Atlas?
Looks like you might get your wish but in the wrong scale. Check out the Kato web poll

Has Kato ever released something in HO and not (eventually) bring it out in N down the line? Their HO GP35s and SD38-2s being the exception of course.

If anything, that poll may be more for gauging HO interest before announcing N scale releases of the Pioneer Zephyr, Charger, and Acela.

I don't exactly need a Charger as they are definitely too new, but if they were offered in a bookcase set, with Surfliners and maybe a Superliner I Coach in Surfliner paint, I'd buy one. There is quite a few different paint schemes that could be done on them. And they would be hot sellers I'm sure.

Heck I want the Surfliner cars more than anything. They were deadheaded in Southwest Chiefs consists to and from Beech Grove.

Surfliner Superliner Is

34960 Sequoia Grove
34967 Sycamore Grove

I still don't understand why Kato has never done Superliner IIs or Surfliners. Rarely are there complete trains of Superliner I cars in Amtrak LD trains.

Yeah, Surfliner cars would sure be nice! There must be some type of nasty licensing issue with doing those cars or something.

It might also be the case that Kato is  busy producing models for their domestic Japanese market.  As I understand Kato USA (and American prototype models) take a backseat to their Japanese prototype models. Since they are Japanese company, I don't think we can really hold that against them.

Actually we are lucky that Kato makes U.S. prototype models at all.  Other Japanese companies like Micro-Ace, Tomix don't do American trains.

But it's not just Kato that could do them. Always found it odd that Athearn never did any to go with their Surfliner F59PHI, which they've released more than once.

You'd be surprised at how much the Japanese model American and European prototypes just by following their social media. There's demand for US prototypes like the Pacific Surfliner in Japan; maybe a Kobo bookcase release of repainted (and lightly retooled?) Superliner Is and a Charger would be a good fit for that project.

As far as I can tell California cars have never been done in plastic in any scale.   There's a couple Superliners that have been done up in similar paint in both 1:1 and  model.

As faras the Charger, they pass by my house everyday, but I already have two Amtrak California locomotives waiting for cars, don't need anogher that's out of my era.  :P

The California Cars and Surfliners have actually been done in plastic in Z scale by American Z Lines over a decade ago. But from what I heard, there was only one run of them.

Just found this, so if you are easily angered don't click the link. Not the manufacturer of choice and not even sure if this isn't fake but here it is:

This is under N scale.
