Interesting... I believe there was an Intermountain/Red Caboose Autorack and Coil Car announcement in the pipeline before FVM purchased the Red Caboose N scale line..

I had always assumed that "FVM purchased Red Caboose N scale" would include the Autoracks....
(Was this Pre-Factory shut down?)

Then... Nothing (about Autoracks or Coil Cars)........(from IM or FVM).....
... FVM Covered Hoppers....
But no Racks or Coils..

Then Fox Valley Autoracks produced by IM.. (well.. Produced by China for IM... for FVM)

I wonder if the FV/RC Autorack and Coil Car tooling accidentally got moved to the new IM Factory with the HO purchase.. (or was already moved to the old IM Factory before it closed.)

BTW... Intermountain..
4785 PS2-CD Covered Hoppers - Early End Frame Version Needs Reservations
4785 PS2-CD Covered Hoppers - Late End Frame Version Needs Reservations
4785 PS2-CD Covered Hoppers - H-100-21 Version Needs Reservations

... Its over... I appreciate you keeping hope that orders would come in..
But the idea died on 7/3/19 (that is when I got my Scale Trains cars from the first run...)
I just got my 2nd run on 7/30/20.. so, it's over..

I spoke with Matt over at FVM a few years ago when he was at Springfield. The goal on the coil cars was to convert the walkways to metal etchings. So these should be a nice upgrade when they come out. The auto racks were a priority, but the production is complicated with all the etched parts. I expect these will be around the $70 MSRP range when they come out.

But even at that price, I would still get more. They are great cars and Framingham always had dozens.

Should be interesting to try to get body-mounted couplers onto those  :scared:

Any word on the old RC 73' centerbeams?

Um, yea, Intermountain...
I look across my reservation list and I see Intermountain products all over it, some reserved over 5 years ago. Tunnel motors, BNSF heritage hoppers, GEVOs, Trinity 3281 covered hoppers among others. I've lost faith in them, so sadly, I won't reserve any, as much as I'd like some Ferromex and CN autoracks. The TBD price also scares me. But if they ever show up, I'll definitely pick some up.

And just like that, I'm going to the poor house.. I'd been somewhat successful in picking up some Red Caboose used ones on the auctions (only at reasonable prices). Assuming they look like the Red Caboose run, they look so much better compared to the MTL cars (and I'm not saying the MTL autoracks are bad).

I'm glad these are coming out, but none of the roads are any I would want. I keep losing out to SP Speed Lettered versions. Between them and the ex Red Caboose SP coil cars, I have the works luck.

$69.95.  They are IMO probably one of the best looking N scale cars!  So maybe $55-$60??

N Scale Supply has them set at MSRP $69.95, and their pre-order price is $55.96...
