Would love to take advantage but their website is one of those where, if you can't remember your password and submit a password change request, nothing ever arrives via email.

Can't set up a new acct. either because my email is "already in their system".

You try to login with your email address (so you know that your email address is good).  The password reset gets sent to that address, so maybe it ends up in your Spam folder?  Next time remember to write down your password on a PostIt note, and stick it on your computer monitor.  :)
And on a serious note: you might want to look into a password manager app?

I just placed my order and saved some money.  :D

Not in spam folder, but good suggestion.

This is a typical problem for me and was discussed in another thread some time ago....online stores that say you already have a login but your usual passwords don't work and you can't seem to recover or change them.

Is there a specific web page for this sale to which you'd like to direct our attention?
Or, did you receive the info about the sale (and the offer code) in an email from Bachmann?

My original post stated "Head to our parts store to take advantage of our Labor Day Sale!"

I received email from Bachmann.  It applies to their online parts store only.  I browsed to that website, placed an order for bunch of parts, and during checkout, after typing in the offer code, received the discount.

If you go here: https://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=66
Then, where is (info on) the sale?

Parts are listed at regular prices.  Then, during checkout you will see a field where you can enter discount codes. That is where you type in that code word and the discount will be applied right before you complete the payment.  Haven't you ever used discount codes/coupons at online merchant's websites during checkout?

I too have problems remembering passwords.  Especially those that need all sorts of “special characters”. I have taken to using phrases which i find easier to remember.
I hadn't considered Password managing apps.
Do they need a password too? 🤨

LOL!  I suspect they do. But you can always write it down somewhere wherer you (and everybody else) can easily find it.  That is because you will not be using a password manager app for security, but simply to store all those crazy passwords needed on the Internet (without having to strain your brain).   :D

They do.  But it's only one that you have to remember.  We use KeePass at work where we have between 150 and 200 servers, each with several highly privileged account which ALL have different passwords that are 10-15 characters with !@#%$ and crap. We'd never remember them all.

On my work Mac I use 1Password to locally store the 50 or so passwords that I need just about daily out of the other thousand stored in KeePass.

I just keep a folder of passwords by my home computer.

I figure that computer-based "password managers" are prime targets for malware attacks, and I think it is easier to just keep  notes than to try to keep up with the malware and phishing techniques aimed at them.
