Hi fellow :ashat: , I'm looking for a good paint booth.
I don't want cheap nor do I want to build my own.
Looking for recommendations and experiences on what is out there.
I have built my own in the past but would rather not go that route again.

TIA, Jon

I've got the Micro-Mark booth and I like it.. Metal base / Sides,  triple filtration, exhaust 4" dryer vent style exhaust port.

Autograph is another brand of the same (but longer) booth..

There may be others brands.

Not cheap$.. but definitely not "cheap" build.

For the price of the Micro Mark offerings, I would be looking at Pace booths. The fold-up plastic eBay/Amazon/Paasche etc. booths...not so much.

In my opinion the big advantage to the Pace booths is their use of standard furnace filters. Needing to buy any kind of proprietary filter is a huge turn-off and obvious profit center for the retailer.

Thanks Ian, I was wondering about the Micro-Mark model. Couple questions about it.
It appears to vent directly out into the room or do you vent it outside through a dryer vent? What model do you use?
Also how long do your filters last because they look to be expensive. I know that question really depends on how much use.

Thanks for info!!

If you buy a version without an exhaust fan, I would suggest ducting in a hydroponics(?) moisture control fan. Very powerful and very quiet, and has sealed bearings and brushes. My homemade box uses it with 6” ducting. At the exhaust end of the duct, I concocted a small animal protection cage and covered that with aluminum screen, and over all of that secured a nylon fabric bag (think Christmas blow up decoration) to let the exhaust escape. Fortunately it’s under my false chimneys it does not look like a goiter on the side of my house!  :D I also added a dust collector gate to prevent cold air from seeping into the basement through the ducting.

The fan is in the top of the image below:

That's a really clever setup John!!!!
It looks like you can even use the snap on lid that came with the tote to cover it when not in use.

John, Would you be so kind as to post the manufacturer's name and model number for that fan?  I Googled " hydroponics moisture control fan" and found some that looked just like the one in your picture.  But, the only review says " it does however blow very hard. It is also very loud."  Since you said yours is "Very powerful and very quiet", and I really like "very quiet", I want to get one like yours.

I know you said you didn't want to build your own, but this took me about 1-1/2 hours.

I also have a Pace 24-inch Mini-Plus that I've owned for the last 7? years. There's plenty of space in there and I love that it uses normal furnace filters.

Thanks. It works really well. The filters are 12 × 16 double stacked. On the back there is another 12 x 16 shallow box that slides off for the duct connection. And yes I can cover it up, remove it and place my air eraser cabinet (left) in its place so I can reclaim the Al oxide. The table also folds down.

@Maletrain , I will get an image for you this evening. I bought it from.a.local guy in FB Marketplace for $40.

As you know quiet is relative but suffice to say that the floor above is our family room and no one can hear it when running. I did use neoprene faucet washers for isolation from the fan housing to the brackets and from the brackets to the joists.

I vented mine outside, but I have breathing problems, so it's overkill precaution. It has enough filtration that you likely don't NEED to.  However I always sprayed water baseed paint.. shooting oil based/spray paint, venting outside may still be a must.

On both of my houses, when I redid siding, I had the contractor add drier vent for the air brush.. (Or put your spray booth next to the drier and add a branch for the spray booth...

Anyways on the filters:
The first filter (like a dense furnace filter) gets replaced with each spray session.  Honestly, keeping up with that, I can't remember if I ever changed  the 2nd filter...I think I did once or twice over the years I was using it but it wasn't frequently.. every 6 months-1 year?...  I haven't been painting the last few years.. I've never changed the 3rd filter.. but I think it's a charcoal filter.. so designed for the oil based stuff.

For the first layer, I got the add on filter roll and that made things alot easier.

Thanks John.  The reviews on that unit are much better than the one I Googled into.

Do you use a speed controller on yours, or run it full tilt when airbrushing?
