Here is the first of three F40PH conversions. The speaker is a peel and stick Sobertron 11x15 on an enclosure. The strobes and red light are a first for me. These are all micro LEDs super-glued into the light shield so that the shell and cab glass can be removed. Waiting for the glue to dry so I can load software and (fingers crossed) make sure all the lights work.

Maybe this is of interest to those who want to use a LokPilot (eg. 59828) in a Kato FP7.
There is no need to remove the nubs on the shell (Figure 10).

Well, my decoder showed up today, I had already installed the adapter board and the speaker, so it was time to plug in the decoder and rock and roll. I'll have to say I'm pretty impressed, the only bad thing is now I have 9 more units I need to put the adapter board in, and two more are units that need sound decoders. Lokpilots for the trailing units...

I am very, very happy with these boards!
Today I finished my Kato Milw A-B-A set. Loksound-LokPilot-Lokpilot.
Works like a charm.
The good thing is. the nubs in the FP7 with a LokSound decoder can stay as well, no need to remove them - at least with the 58818.

Sorry the image won't upload right now....

Earlier in this thread it was said that the board would work with Katos E8 and a LokPilot. Does someone know it this is true for the E5 as well?

Now I need to check my other Kato Fs if they are DCC ready because if they are, I will order some more boards.

You can absolutely fit a wired V5 micro in the SDP40F.  I've done lots of them.  It's a bit tight and things have to be positioned just right, but completely doable.

I'll build one up and post pictures within a day or two as I have a few waiting in que anyways but I have quite a few things in front of them.

Enjoy!

Ooops!  Forgot to post this when I built some up.  Too many pokers in the fire I suppose.

Anywhoo...completely unrelated to the rest of this thread.

Enjoy!

I'm installing one of these in a Kato P42 right now.

Regarding AUX 5 and 6, where does the other side of the LED get connected to? The instructions seem to indicate it's not a U+ pad.

(Edit: I found the answer earlier in this thread)

For clarity in case anyone else has the same question, the 4 circled connections below are for AUX5 and AUX6:

The reason for the separate AUX5 and AUX6 anode pads are because the cathode pads are on the decoder itself, therefore the need to put a resistor attached to a U+ on the anode side.

Does 1 F40PH, 10 P42s, 2 FP7s, 4 F7Bs, 2 F7As, 1 F3A, and 2 F3Bs count? And I only bought the F40PH to be a stand in for AMTK 406. The adapter board is good for all those locomotives.
