3D printed Pennsy S1 build

A BLI T1 was highly converted for the build.
Front steam chests moved back, front chassis cut off, rear chassis cut shorter both for clearence for six wheel trucks.
BLI T1 tender chassis extended.

Built this one for my buddy that has the Ebay store.
T1 he bought and sent was a rebuild from BLI but ended up not being so.
Decoder fried when he first got it and was remover before sending to me, so I couldn't test run it after building.
But it was sent to another friend for a new DCC as well as sound.
This video is what our friend sent to me after his work.
He did find that BLI's rebuild had two tender axles put in backwards blowing decoders. Also had a bad motor which he replaced with a Kato duel flywheel motor.

I built this one using my Oriental Brass one for the build.

Is this the same one I've seen on Facebook? Ernie, maybe?

I believe he called it a SLA printer ?
Finish is pretty smooth, unlike Shapeways engine prints.

Just finished my S1, I think ?  Using Robert Nunes shells and decals by Jeff Gowers I successfully transplanted the S1 shells to a BLI T1. UP4-8-8-4,s directions were easy to follow too. I took a few liberties on mounting the shells by making my own hard mount spacers in the shells to attach to the chassis.  I also used fiber optic lines for the lights including the fwd marker lights which turned out pretty good, IMO. I took the three blow off valves from the T1 then drilled and glued them into the required space on S1.   I chooses to paint the tender deck red to match my other PRR locos. I see some S1s with and without this. Painted the cab interior the usual green. I think down the road I will strip and the drive rods and use Alcoa’s metal paint and re-do the rods. I’m not please with their finish at this time.  I gave her an overall semi gloss finish. I think once the BLI decider dies then I will replace it with something a little nicer.  I’m very please with the outcome of this build. Runs much nicer then the brass one I had for 20 years and cut it loose with no regrets.  I want to thank Robert Nunes, Jeff Gower and UP 4-8-8-4 for making this possible.

Can you share a picture of the loco with a typical PRR head end baggage car or the Broadway limited baggage car? Mi initial concern with the kit, is what I perceived as a proportional size issue as compared to the cars when I saw Ernie’s model.

Maybe input was an illusion or Robert had to compromise a little to get the shell to fit the T1 chassis, and stay proportional, which is not unreasonable.

Yes,  I set up three different cars.  A Concor Loewy car and the other two are the Kato Broadway cars.  I find the Kato bagage car is closer to the top of the rear part of the tender which looks very close in reality. The coach looks a bit lower as is the Concor Loewy cars.  I do need to shorten the coupler length on both tender and cars.   Hope this helps.
