Thanks David, that was meant in jest...
I did find the proper google reference, but all the color pics are *models*in differing paint schemes; not much prototype info. So I’m still looking for the correct paint scheme for late forties NYC Express Reefers...NYC guys, anyone?
Otto

Otto,
I took a look through my two Morning Sun Books NYC Color Guides, and it isn't easy to tell for certain what the color of the sill is in the pictures, since the coloring is kind of soft and faded to begin with for the few shots of express reefers included.  Having said that, the sill sure looks quite a bit to be the same faded color as the car sides.  The pictures of the express reefers are all from the 60's, so the cars aren't in the best of shape to begin with.  But I think it is safe to go with it being Pullman green.  And then heavily weather it since these cars didn't get cleaned very frequently, even in the 40's and 50's.  The roof should be black.  If I remember to do so, I'll email the NYC brain trust and see if anyone digs up a drawing that specifies the colors.

-Brian.

Got two new additions to my switcher fleet.
Two Atlas S2’s, in the partial zebra scheme, graciously painted and decaled courtesy of our own @SP-Wolf. Still need more details, like the wagon wheel antenna. More on my LA Division thread. Fun stuff.

No, thank you, Wolf!
Speaking of “wagon wheel” antennas, does anyone make an etching or a casting of something resembling it? It would seem I need a bunch of them...
Thanks, Otto K.

Gold Medal Models has one on a caboose fret.  I'm not sure of others.

Buy more ore cars!

I bought more ore cars, enough to do the three natural ore cars that I have decals for and 4 more taconite cars that I also have a ton of decals for.

Next I’ll buy the fine n scale taconite loads for them. That will make the total taconite cars 20 cars.

Total natural ore cars is 120

Total cars 140.

Thank you Bryan, but I can’t find anything on the GMM site or their descriptions, only a LifeLike caboose upgrade with no reference to an antenna. Is that the one?

I'd thought Gold Medal made one but I could be mistaken @Cajonpassfan
I know that J-n-J Trains does offer one though.

It's  not.  Oddly enough, it's in the Alco PA detail set, GMM-160-49.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Ah, damn.  I knew I'd seen it in some GMM set however J-n-J does offer one independent of anything else.

Didn’t know J-n-J was still in business and can’t find much online. Any ideas who might have some old stock?
Thank you, Otto

They still have a website.

http://users.dwx.com/~jnjtrains/

I think they’re under new ownership.

that's a really ANCIENT web site!  It still has links for the N-Scale web ring.   It appears to be a snapshot of the original J-N-J website with the words "the new"  added to it.    Also, it was "new" in 1999....
