Just in case you'd forgotten...the Colorado Midland 2.0 in N scale is still alive!

I made a big push this weekend.  Didn't meet all my objectives but nevertheless I'm happy with the progress.  This was mainly about finishing the fascia, building a controller shelf (temporarily screwed in but will eventually be removable with bolts and wing nuts), and finishing the scenery along the layout edge (necessary before painting the fascia).  I still need to tie all the feeder drops from the upper level into their own bus wires and I also need to finish installing the big steel trestle before trains will be running on the upper level.  The good news is that after I accomplish those two items, all the rest of the work remaining is cosmetic (scenery is my favorite task!).

I finished tweaking and installing the “big red trestle"--a bridge based off of several Colorado Midland bridges, but more specifically Hop Gulch Bridge at Buena Vista--on my N scale Colorado Midland layout.  It's a heavily modified Micro Engineering steel viaduct kit, with the diagonal beam bracing all replaced with music wire to represent the tension rods on the prototype.  The scenery behind it and the river below it are obviously far from finished.

It’s funny, though, because I’ve often heard or read the statement that HOn3 and N scale standard gauge are about the same size.  Um…no?

Yes, funny, the perceptions people have…
I spend a lot of my train time working on a large HO layout with other, mostly HO modelers, and they seem all convinced that “N gauge” is about half the size of HO “scale” :facepalm:
Gauge maybe, but by 3D volume, we’re only about 16% of 1/87, which becomes painfully obvious when an HO scale object, like a mountain, is more than SIX TIMES larger than its 1/160 equivalent🙀
I love both of your railroads, Dave, each has its pleasures, but I’m glad you didn’t abandon N altogether.
Very nice modeling, regardless of scale.
