It’s not larger, by much, over the previous DT500...
Here is a comparison photo.
The new throttle, with the backlit, soft buttons, and large LED screen, is far more intuitive to use and the large throttle knobs allow me to control speed with one digit of the same hand I use to hold it.

Yeah, there is a 7-page discussion about this voluptuous throttle in the Product Discussion section.  :) BTW, I like to mention that is a LCD screen with LED backlight.
In case someone is not aware of that discussion, here  is a link: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=49920.0

Inspired by the ship propeller load topic, (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=49669.0) I thought I would like to build one by myself.

Of course not finished yet.

Made a quick and dirty pipe load for my gondolas.
Used what I had left of some aluminum tube, glued to an off cut of peco flex track.
Spray painted flat black and the added some mixed up rust colored acrylic craft paint and then toned that down with some gray mixed acrylic craft Paint.  Finished off with some spray acrylic clear flat.

Happy 4th everyone! As always nice work this week! I’ve been building a company house for the Long Run module. Just have to finish up the porch railings. I’ll have a post with more pics/info in my layout thread a little later.

Completed some updates to my fleet of LifeLike Alco C424's

Added some under walkway detail to close the gap between the body and the trucks.
Evergreen H beam (slightly modified) did the trick.

Those NP stock cars are just beautiful.  Nice conversion.

I unwrapped the all important Brittain Yard ladder section this weekend.  Against all odds it looks to be in good shape.  More in the AC&Y L. E. thread.

This weekend, I built a new shelf for a future three-track yard for the Aberdeen & Rockfish on my layout (the track shown below is merely temporary, so we could JFRTM).  This will add a little capacity to the layout and significantly improve ops.  Most importantly, it gives somewhere for my A&R trains to come and go. My daughter was given the honors of running the first train into Fayetteville, North Carolina.  :)

What size did you use?  That really improves the look

Since the weather was nice here in the UK recently I decided to take the diorama outside for a few quick shots, nothing beats natural light for model photography  :)

As info , the Genesee Wis depot still survives. It was moved to a new location many years ago but is still in good shape.

A year or so ago, I 3D built a WWII military train to represent the movement of a US Army Medium tank company, about 18 tanks, some trucks, etc..  For testing, I had used tacky putty to hold the vehicles to the cars, which were unmarked.  It worked, but could look better.

As a trial, added decals a flat, added more decals to the Sherman tanks, drilled out the barrels, added tie down chains and chocks to better match prototype transport photos from the 1940s.  The tie down "chains" are twisted 14 gauge wire strands. Still looking for something better.

I also made a train of military WW2 equipment. An M4 Sherman weighed about 30 tons. The MT and Atlas 50 foot flat cars were 50 ton rated. Unfortunately your flat ca is over loaded. Sorry.

Thanks.  I hadn't realized you could that much weight on any N-scale car! :D   Actually, the flat is a 3D printed made up car with the load based on proto photos of two Shermans on four axle cars:

Nonetheless, interesting point. Perhaps a reason to make more cars and mix it up like the last photo.  Wonder if it made any different between models as well as if they were coming from the factory without fuel, ammo, machine guns, etc..

Cheers,

Bob

Those prototype flatcars in the archive photos appear to be greater than 40 feet in length.

By the second world war 70ton flatcars were pretty common... also, both the Atlas and all of the MT flats lack specific prototypes AFAIK...

Sorry  ;)
