Just drive a stake through ConCor's heart, why don't you!
The good news for me is that a bunch of older ones are about to flood the market!

"Just drive a stake through ConCor's Kato's heart, why don't you!"

I knowI'm being fussy... but Kato made that engine.  ConCor only rebranded it and then made an "also-ran" version in 1989.  All of us in N Scale, especially steam modelers, owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Kato for designing that Hudson.  It is the shoulder upon which every steam loco made since stands.

If Bachmann sells the trucks as separate parts, they will make a superb upgrade to the old Kato model.  Those all-wheel pickups were never as good as axle-point, and the improved pickup would be most welcome.

The good news for me is that a bunch of older ones are about to flood the market!

I am so glad that I sold all of mine in 2018.  I was amazed at some of the prices that I got for those that would not run at all or ran poorly.  I even let people know at least three times in the text of the auction that the thing did not run well or at all.  They still fetched good prices.

Everyone's selling them at the same time will drop the prices.  I had different versions, from  the original to the last C-C versions with flywheels.

Those flywheels on the last ones were not balanced and made the thing noisy.  Many people left off the flywheels, but, none of mine would pull four Kato LWs up a one per-cent grade at speed.  When I added the flywheel, every one of them pulled ten.  I suspect that the thing was designed to run with the flywheel, so it affected the balance of the power chassis.  I had the de-shrouded, bullet nose and shovel nose. All performed the same.  The last C-C  black NYC shovel nose had COMMADORE VANDERBILT and an incorrect number printed on it.  I managed to find an O that was the same size, so I erased the "A" and substituted the "O".  I changed the number to the correct one, as well.  The prototype shovel nose Commodore Vanderbilt did not have that kind of shovel nose.  Except for the cab, the shovel nose looked more like a CMStP&P or C&NW shovel nosed Hudson.

I am sure that the thing is going to be very nice and am not unhappy to see it, but, as my modelling directions have changed, I will not buy one.

I’m really looking forward to it, even though I’d be happier if it did not have sound. It is harder to mess with a mechanism if it has a decoder and sound wires and a speaker. I need a couple of CNR Hudsons and a TH&B model.

Anyone take notice Bachmann shows a J3 hudson for the fall with soundtraxx eco. I seen it two min ago. from Tophobby. Was wondering who'd be the first to step up and make that in todays standards.

I keep looking for BLI to do the PRR Q2 or J1

You're getting a PT tender ready for the Hudson?  Can you elaborate?  3D printing one?

Thanks,
Brian.

I'm starting with an extra Concor big boy tender
I've had for years.  Then it's up to a 3D print person, not myself. To make a tender body or just scratch build one well within my capability .

Does anybody know what material the engine body is made of, i.e. metal or plastic, as Bachmann used both in their past productions of steam engines.

No frowns, I'm trying to figure out how to justify one. B&O had no Hudson's at all, maybe I'll convert one to C&O.

Edit...forgot Lord Baltimore -- http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/bo2s.jpg

This loco went through a couple experimental variations but never really hit the rails in main line service and looks nothing like the NYC Hudsons.
