I only posted the photo just in case someone might not know this tooling exists.   

I am also anxiously awaiting for the announcement.

These or the grain trailers would be nice. Or the triple axle reefer. But mostly the grain trailers.

The stainless steel trailers that I see hauling milk need to have the "chrome" look.  However, the trailers I see around the asphalt terminals appear to be aluminum, and look rather dull in comparison.

Keep in mind that the asphalt trailers you see have an outer skin that encompasses insulation and the actual cargo tank.

I think the food grade product trailers are, in most cases, stainless steel.

I agree, but when Trainworx first displayed the pre-production sample of the trailer at the 2014 National Train Show, Pat indicated they could be used for "water, milk, hot asphalt and other commodities."

That is why I believe that when the trailers are released, they will have different finishes, depending on what the lettering on the trailer indicates is being hauled.

Agreed.  After all, they are required to add labels to the packaging stating that the models are intended for people aged 14 and up.  So clearly, they aren't toys.

It really is a big disappointment that Hess took this route, I was really looking forward to having an N scale Hess truck or two.  Out of curiosity, I looked on the Hess webpage to see if they offer any small scale trucks, and they actually do.  But they don't state what scale they might be, nor are they of a high enough detail level/quality that you'd actually put one on a layout.  I also just did a search for Hess truck decals, but wasn't successful in finding any.

Some of the Trainworx vintage fuel tankers showed up at my house today.  Here are the Peterbilt 350s that are appropriate for southern Idaho in the 1950s.   







I will post photos of some of the Peterbilt 351s tomorrow.

I may be wrong, but shouldn't there be some assemblance of door relief below the main tank body?
Access to pumps, hoses and other assorted paraphernalia?
It is a nice touch, with the early Peterbilt logo on the hood sides and the early Pete grill.
Very era appropriate.

This group of Peterbilt 351 fuel tankers are suitable for southern Idaho in the 1950s.









The paint schemes on these tankers bring back a lot of fun memories from my childhood.  I actually enjoyed stopping at a service station when the gasoline was being delivered!

The models look good (as expected), but I think that I'm also seeing the same cost-cutting change that they first made on the Cascadia tractors.

In earlier models (before producing Cascadia tractors), Trainworx painted the wheels (tires) using rubber color paint, then they painted the rims whatever color was appropriate. This resulted in really good looking wheels which looked like they had rubber tires (not shiny bare plastic).

In Cascadia trailers I noticed that they just molded the wheels using a gray plastic, similar in color to the "rubber" paint they used in previous runs. Then they still paint the rims using appropriate colors, but this results in shiny, plasticky tires (since they are unpainted gray plastic).

Of course, since this skips one painting step, it probably costs less money, but the result IMO is reduction in quality and realism on those very expensive models. Too bad that we are seeing them cutting corners like this.

Yes, we can fix this ourselves (either spay the wheel wit satin clear, or mask and paint the tires, but for the price these go for, that should not be needed.

It could just be that the factory changes Pat needed to make with the Affa fiasco resulted in either reduced capabilities at the new factory or it was cost-prohibative to do these extra steps. Not everything is cutting corners and profiteering.

It doesn't look like the assembly fit/finish is quite as good either.
Crooked grills, battery boxes and flash nubs on lots of tires.

Cost prohibitive?  When a tiny model truck costs fifty bucks, I expect nothing less than perfection.   Why do we always have to lower our standards and accept the unacceptable?   The longer I live, the more of this I see all around me.
