That cinches it. I'm ordering my Peco short turnouts today!!I have an old glass display case that my uncle kept an antique chess set in. Later my dad displayed some lead soldiers in it. It's in my garage mouldering in the heat presently. It's a beautiful case, with glass sides and a glass top. About 18" square as I recall, maybe 18 x 20 or 24. The top is hinged. It's screaming out for a micro layout. With the glass top, it would be killer to do a "siding in the building" scene, with the TOP of the building cut away so one could enjoy watching the switching take place inside. I'm thinking a tight radius loop with just enough straight run to install the switch, and another switch at the back to stage a car or two that gets collected and delivered.Very cool indeed.Lee
Eyeballed measurements, looks to be about 14.5" x 19.5" usable space inside the box. Vertical clearance is about 5", so plenty of room for some DPM type structures. But the curves may have to be bent out of flex, and tested for the several small switchers I may deploy to service the traffic.Lee
People are even commenting about running this in n scale on 9.5" radius track.
