new Atlas GP35

Atlas is currently offering two Penn Central GP35s - PC 2256 without a dynamic brake and PC 2263 with a dynamic brake and a red P.

I can't find any photographic evidence on the usual websites.

Are these two paint schemes fantasy schemes? Or very short lived schemes?

The pictures of 2256 show a DB.

PC had non-dynamic GP35s (thank to the NYC's hubris about being "water level").

I'm assuming Atlas did their homework on numbers since they're usually pretty good about that.

The artwork in the catalog when they were announced had no dynamic brakes.

I bought both.  2256 has dynamics and small PC logo on the back.  2263 has dynamics and large PC logo, red P on the back. I had an issue with the 2263.  It would run on DCC but no sound.  Ended up pulling it apart to see what was wrong.  There are 4 contacts under the decoder and a plastic "PC board insulator" under it.  The PC board insulator had bent one of the speaker contacts down, so it wasn't touching.  I fixed that and now have 2 working Geeps.

Oh and BTW, the trucks have wires soldered to the contact strips which then plug into the sides of the chassis. Not sure how well that is going to work in the long run.  Screws aren't used to hold the chassis together as well.  There are plastic clips on the ends now.

Do these models with revised inner workings still accept the TCS AMD4 and ASD4 DCC decoders?

The production models both have dynamic brakes.  I am not sure why the artwork was done without dynamics (and I checked the file and the top down view shows the blister, go figure).  This  is the first that it was brought up and these were announced in January 2019! 

I have sent an email to our Service guys to see if I can find the answer to the TCS decoder question.

Assuming the GP35 frame is the same as the GP30 frame, there isn't a TCS drop in to my knowledge (yet?). You'd need something like the Digitrax DN166I3 or an ESU 73199 Select Direct Micro for sound, or whatever wired decoder you choose to roll.

I believe the LokPilot 54650 is the non-sound decoder which is a drop in replacement for the LokSound 73199 sound decoder.  Usually cheaper than pretty much any TCS drop in decoder these days.  But not cheaper than the Digitrax version.  The LokPilot will also have the advantage of being programmed with some characteristics the same as the LokSound if you have to run in a consist with a sound version.  If you don't, then it's not much of an advantage.  LokPilot is often considered to have better motor control abilities than Digitrax but that is semi-subjective also.
