Black Resin settings?

Has anybody played with Anycubic black resin yet? Just got some in to make some parts for RC cars. These are some simple wire holders and brackets that the transparent colors would not look good with. Getting ready to run the Anycubic test print but was hoping someone else had experience.

Yes .. I'm finishing off 1000ml bottle now .. I use 10 seconds for normal layers, 90 seconds on the base 8 layers ..

but by all means print the guage ..   the black is a little brittle .. so don't use it for parts that need to flex

Thank you very much. Cleaning out my green now to run the exposure test on the black.

Ditto on 10 seconds for a normal layer ( Original Anycubic Photon )  I do 100 seconds on base with 6 layers.

Thanks for bringing this up. I've found the AC white to be brittle, as well. Do we have intel on the "least" brittle color? That is, without getting into that expensive flex additive?

Not the Anycubic resin, but this is a "test" I recently did with the resin I use, Siraya Tech Fast (grey)

After I took this picture I tried pushing it further and it finally snapped right at the bottom of the middle window.  I don't know if it's the "least" brittle", but it's definitely less brittle than the Anycubic resins.

Frustration starting to set in....3 attempts at printing with the black, 3 failures, all the same. The raft prints to just about a mm thick then sticks to the vat instead of the build plate.

The Anycubic exposure test pieces were just about impossible to remove from the build plate so I'm at a loss why these are fighting me.

When was the last time you leveled the build plate?

Leveled the build plate before the exposure test. Had a tiny piece of debris that I didn't catch left in the vat after the exposure test which poked a bad dimple in the FEP Film so I replaced the FEP and re-leveled for the second run, still lost the rafts. 3rd try messed around with the raft thickness and exposure times, still lost the rafts.

Running a print this time with my own rafts drawn up in tinker cad as part of the model. I think the wedge to make them easier to release on all sides of the raft was making enough difference in the surface area on the FEP vs. the surface area attached to the build plate that it was sucking it off the build plate. I made rafts with one wedge and straight sides for the rest. The exposure test has straight sides for all and ran flawless. I also am running it with only 3 bottom layers at 90 seconds / 10 second normal layers. So far, so good, it just got past the supports and started printing the part, I can still hear it releasing from the FEP so I think all is good.

I've had success recovering a dimpled FEP with a heat gun. Here's where I described the technique: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=48547.msg644259#msg644259

It was too far gone, it ended up with a pin hole in it. I had done the heat gun thing earlier on my factory FEP. I'm used to heating plastics to re-shape them from making canopies  and cowls for RC planes. It saved me some down time while I waited for more to arrive.

And failed print #4 but this one I can correct. I didn't make my contact points between the supports and the piece big enough and the part pulled off the supports.

At least this is a failure in a positive direction. Now to clean the vat again. Ugh.

I had a lot of trouble with black, and ultimately gave up.   I'm having much better luck with grey.

I think with black i started around 18s per layer, and 90s for the bottom, based on my print test.   I tried with the settings from the spreadsheet too:   https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1crvzMnt_8NJXAsABinoIhcOjE8l3h7s0L82Zlh1vkL8/htmlview?pru=AAABcmGJvmA*zcfJanWaTgEnd_vnwRA-RQ#gid=0

I'm getting similar -- but only on one side of the vat .. I think I need to replace the FEP at some point .. for now, I just print on the side that seems to work.
