The WC # 14 radio control platform car looks sharp.  I've never seen that or anything like that before.  Is that a kit/3D model or was that kit-bashed/scratch built?  The large windows with the rounded corners look really good.

This was a special run of cabooses done for Prairie Shadows in Canada (great online store if you haven’t found it already) by Rapido. It is detailed, and has an illuminated interior and red class lights.

The Scale Track is in and functioning. I got both tortoises wired, the sensor is installed and ballast is in. I mocked up the White Pine Electric office and ran the fencing on the scene. I also added the Showcase Miniatures switch stands. Time to make more trees.

Steve, I went with the GMM fence. It’s my go to when the height is right.

The scale track is fully functional. I have full turnout control with tortoises.

I figure I could consolidate a few of my updates on the actual layout page.
I started the styrene construction of Global Wood Sticks. They make wood pencil blanks.

I started added lights to the layout. Starting with the scale house.

I got caught up on my weathering. I don’t like to have any rolling stock on the layout unless it’s been weathered.

I have a sheet of custom decals from Circus City on their way. When those arrive I’ll be able to knock out 5 more pieces of rolling stock and 3 WC/FRVR GP30s. More to come on those...

Great start on Global Wood Sticks - I like the way you have the foundation buried so that it becomes more visible as it slopes away.  The entire scene is really coming together!

The roundhouse in N Fond Du Lac has 5 bays. They are numbered left to right if you are standing on the turntable/ Tracks 1-4 were active inspection tracks while track 5 was used to park the SW-1 switch engine. Bay 1 has new brick on the far wall. The reason is that WC 703 exited the roundhouse via the wall adjacent to the parking area around the round house.
All of the roundhouse tracks sloped toward the turntable so it was practice to put chains under the wheels and let the engines roll back against the chains. TO remove the chains usually the engine was started and moved ahead a few inches before exiting onto turntable.

The SOO Gp30s were known to be slow loading engines,  often in order to pull the wheel chains the throttle was placed in about notch six to expedite the movement.

As a new electrician I was careful to repair everything that I found wrong. During a standard 92 day inspection I was working on, on the third shift I discovered that the "fast start" switching service feature wasn't working because there was a burned out resistor and a bad relay. Of course I changed the bad parts and did a quick static test to verify operation. Evidently the fast start feature hasn't worked on the GP30s for several years and unknown to the first shift hostlers the fast start was working now. When the hostler placed the throttle in notch 6 to move the engine off the chains it took off like a rocket. It went over the end stops, through the wall and entirely into the parking lot.

I got to work that night and the 703 was neatly tucked between parked employee cars. I was later assigned to find out what went wrong. Of course I determined that the engine was in good working condition...

     Awesome work!!! I really like the handrails on the locos. Looks like wire was used.  Every thing on this thread is top notch!!

     Loved the story on the Fondy roundhouse! Now that I know the 30’s were slow to load, I can adjust my lok sound decoders.
