I am not so sure these things were not just taken by somebody who wanted them and could not afford (or was unwilling to pay for) them.  If they don't show up on eBay, it will seem like that is the case.
There seems to be enough diversity among scales and roadnames to suggest it's unlikely that all of those items would have been wanted by a particular individual.

............sorry to learn of this.  I hope that the owner had crime insurance.

As Rossford Yard posted, you would be surprised at who is doing the shoplifting.  A guy with whom I was friends and who ran a hobby store showed me some of the camera footage and I was appalled.  I knew many of these people.  He told me he even had to ban a few of them from his store.  I never let any of those people know that I knew, but, I lost more than a little respect for several people.

NEVER would I do anything like that, as, if for no other reason, I would want a place that I liked to continue to do business with me.

There are some notorious thieves running around shows and stores and even club meetings.  I am aware of several clubs that will watch this or that guy, as he has been popped trying to steal stuff at set ups and other meets.

Despite that, there does remain a large amount of trust in this hobby.  I have made trades on line and received my item before I had sent theirs.  I have bought items from people, told them that I could not get to the post office to buy their money order until two days hence.  I get to the post office just before it closes, buy the money order, write the envelope, stamp and mail.  Two days after that, my item arrives with a postmark of the day that I told the guy that it would be two days before I sent his payment.

I do not know how many times a guy has seemingly failed to keep up his end, you ask him about it; it turns out he flaked and "oh, yeah, let me PayUP, Pal you right now.  In less than five minutes, the funds are in your PayUP, Pal account.  I will always hope that this trust will remain.

I do not run HO, but, I will keep an eye on FeePay and a few other places.

Some modelers (including some who post here on Railwire) can be a bit lax about the extent of their collections.  Fortunately this is a closed group where such information is valued.  Still, we should all think twice before giving out too much personal information to strangers.

This really isn't a "closed group" in the sense that anybody can join, and we really don't know who every member is.  If somebody can "case" a hobby shop, then they can "case" this forum.  But, just like we don't know where everybody lives, neither does some guy who is just "casing" us.  Unless we tell  them, of course.

So if you set the pointer on the Google map to your exact location in your forum profile, you are SOL.  :)

Well, maybe if the guy has missiles with nuclear warheads, and really takes offense at a post.

But, with all the TRW profile links to Facebook, etc., if you ever post your address or phone number, even to a "friend", well, there are databases to save that forever.

Just for schnitzengiggles, my pointer now points to the top of Pikes Peak.

We weren't contemplating revenge or taking offense.  It was about us boasting here about some vast model collection we have, and someone easily finding out where we live, then casing out house and stealing out precious model collection.

I haven't posted a location at all, so my map doesn't have a pointer.

After posting those pictures of his corn field, Spookshow is going to need armed guards if his address gets out.

I realized that since I moved recently, I should move my pin as well.  It's now at the point where the OA&E/SN crossed the SP San Ramon Valley branch line.  Although both lines are now gone, both rights of way are still in use.  The SN mainline is now the route of the BART yellow line, and the SP San Ramon Valley branch line is now the Iron Horse Trail.

I can think of many other things on the Gay street lot that were more lethal :)
