In his last gasps for life, he uploaded the video to YouTube.  That GG1 is still running today, while that man's corpse just lays there.

They figured out how to pull electricity from the air, but you have to have them both up, one for negative, the other for positive.

One thing I don't like about the Plastruct 1:200 brick is the pattern. Not  many buildings are constructed that way.  I like the look of staggered courses better.   Best brick material I have used was from the (long gone) Holgate & Reynolds. It was oversize, but looked great!  Then David from Cache Junction made great laser-etched brick.

I believe Josh's kit uses N Scale Architect brick.  Yes, it is "sausagey".

Too bad Monster Model Works isn't still around, those were excellent, sharply-defined scale brick sheets.

You got that right!  And, they made great enginehouse doors.  I used 12 of 'em at Rico, and coulda used 10 more for Ridgway.  I managed to build two of their structure kits--both wood "stone" texture--before they went under. 

Turns out the guy had started Monster as a way to make money after a lay-off.  He got back into his primary career field after the market turned around (I wish I could remember what it was he did) so it wasn't a matter of the model company failing, but rather an opportunity for him to go back to work for even better pay.  He lives somewhere here in Colorado Springs still if I'm not mistaken.  I had a chat with him a while back at a train show just before he pulled the plug.

Jimmy is a great guy— met him in Sacramento in 2011 when he launched his company.

Supposedly once he was back at the day job, he wasn't feeling he had enough time to run MMW at the level he wanted. He was open to selling the business— he ran it off of either 1 or 2 epilog laser cutters out of his home.  Compared to a "real" job making money is a hobby business isn't all that lucrative for the time you need to put in.

I got a new turnout installed and working.

It was weird though...there was an issue...THE SAME ISSUE. Here's the timeline.

1. I tested the turnout, all the points, ran locos through it, used leads to test continuity.
2. I filed notches in the rails for the turnout points. Tested again, all working great.
3. Painted the turnout after masking off the important parts. Tested after cleaning, all working great.
4. Placed turnout back on the module and hooked everything up. Tested everything again, all working great.
5. Glued down the turnout and weighted it down with brick. Came back the next day, it stopped working in the same place as the old one. The locos stalled in the same place on the same rail.
6. I took out the turnout and tested it...and it all worked normally.
7. I clipped it back in and took this video:

8. I glued it down with a less heavy object, (a panavice) and it's working great!

I'm glad that's working for you at last!  But how frustrating for a while...

All of this could have been avoided if @robert3985 just made all the turnouts for me.

I do have to say, those hand laid numbers are sexy AF.


But moving along...reality is setting in. If I were to use the hawt double track end caps, my look would be 48"x 96".   I am wondering if that's too much space for me. I may have to scale back and use the ugly single tracks.
