I own a wholesale lumber brokerage company that specializes in heavy timber construction, like Railroads, Rail Contractors, Timber Frame home builders etc.

Franklin has/had some interesting wooden bridges. Just to the left of this trestle was a coal trestle, it went out towards the road and is long gone. There is also an upside-down covered bridge. Wooden truss with wood siding, the track runs over the top. Unfortunately it was burned by arsonists in 1980, its still there but without any siding.

I can't find anything about when it was removed, but even if it was removed in the '80s I'd consider it long gone. Also, that first picture is Hillsboro.

Also by this time the town was a dead end. The bridge over the river South of town was gone.

I wasn't arguing with you about how long is "long gone"; I was just adding a bit of context. And that's strange about the first image--the site where I found it said it was Franklin, so seems they were wrong.

Those two abutments belong to this bridge, that also burned. Why were all the cool bridges burned?

Here's another of the trestle. For a long time there was a guy who had a Mack truck collection in the area the trestle used to be. He lived in the house on the left I believe. He died about 10 years ago and all the trucks got auctioned off.
