I don't agree with your translation. If I had an "ilk," mediocrity would not be it. But one must draw the line somewhere, or nothing will get accomplished in our lifetime, hence "perfect" is not an option.

Bar maid is actually a beer garden server from Noch; I had to amputate one of her legs to get her to fit behind the bar. Not sure about a smoke generator, but I would like some option to be able to "smoke the place up" a bit on occasion. I have a feeling the stage spotlights shining through the ceiling fan will look even better than the candles with some smoke.

Nice find on that figure - perfect for that setting!  I like your spotlights through a rotating ceiling fan idea. Nice visual effect and no oily mess.
As for a smoky feeling, how about a hazy brown film of nicotine on the windows?

Maybe a small vent/tube to an under-layout depository of dry ice with a fan? I can't think of much else that would make "smoke" without some residue. Could always just put a heating element under it and melt solder endlessly for some smoke. Assuming I am not missing you being facetious about "real" smoke, and instead just want a visual effect.

Something in my gut says no. I recall being in places like this way, way back, and the smoke creates a distinctive, memorable "3D" effect as the light cuts through it. With the fans going, I have a feeling there just won't be any substitute for the real thing. We'll see. I may try some kind of under-layout gizmo with an incense burner or something...

But that introduces a lot of moisture, which is very bad.
