Better?

Did you hand lay that brick walkway using sanded grout or standard mortar mix? 😉

Since we are talking about the Addams', and DKS seems to be able to animate just about anything, how about the following enhancement (tongue FIRMLY in cheek)?

Add an animated figure of Fester or Gomez Addams sharpening spikes on top of the fence (Gomez did it in the TV show, Fester did it in the Charles Addams cartoon).

I love it! I confess to being a yuuuge Addams fan. Yet I hated the Munsters with a passion. Go figure.

Funny. In truth, that's Monster Modelworks brick, dry-brushed with Floquil Zinc Chromate.

Completely different shows really.  I preferred the Addams Family as well.

Then on the rooftop of the hotel you'll have to have the family with the boiling cauldron getting ready to pour it on the Christmas carolers!
Taking on an Addams Family theme opens up a whole world of possibilities of new animations!

... Hmmm...  I smell another animation project.. :)

Fun fact.. The model train wreck scenes in Addams Family were (almost?) always the same clip cut/zoomed different ways.

EDIT: They show different lineups each episode, and there was a whole new layout (and all new trains) for season 2, but the wreck sequence always uses clips from first few episodes..
On the Bridge, Santa Fe F7 on the left, M&STL GP9 Right
Steam on the bottom coupled to a flat car.

There was a 2nd staged wreck scene with just the F7 and M&STL GP9 that you see on a few episodes.

Moving along with the inn.

I even tested the modified rocking chair animation, and it still worked fine.

DKS...the rocking chair is another feat of wonder...but even the hotel without any current animation included
is a most respectful piece of modeling...very fine work!

sincerely

Thank you, Gary.

Today I permanently installed Mrs. Davis and her rocking chair on the front porch.

The latest special effects addition has been a long-desired one. I had plans for one as early as the White River & Northern IV, and later the Black River & Western. I'd thought about including one for the Mountain Vista quite some time ago, but I'd pretty much given up as I simply could not find a viable site for it. Then, as I was wrapping up the Davis Inn, I realized the front yard would be large enough to host a wedding party. Perfect.

What's the "special effect" about the wedding party? There's a line of people with flash cameras. Push a button, and they flash randomly. But... flash in the daytime? Natural sunlight is terrible for portraiture, so knowledgeable photographers will use flash to reduce harsh shadows. Now, granted, they'd also wear suits to a wedding, but we don't need to go there.

To create the effect, I utilized a circuit board I'd pulled out of an old toy from the 1990s; I'd originally used them to create the "ski racks" for the police cars at the accident scene on the WR&N IV (above). I still had a few of the circuit boards left, plus I have loads of pre-wired cool white SMD LEDs, as well as a surfeit of Preiser figures. One circuit will drive up to five LEDs; thus I could have five people lined up shooting the wedding party.

My first chore was to drill #80 holes up through the photographers' feet (above); this would keep the wires aligned with their legs, and also assist with mounting them. After scraping away the paint on the fronts of the cameras, I glued the LEDs in place, then patiently waited until everything was dry. Then I made a small base from a scrap of sheet styrene and bonded the Gang of Five in place (below); this gave me far more control over their installation than if I'd tried to drill all of those holes precisely in finished scenery.

Notice how the guy in the center just elbowed the head of the fellow next to him—this was not planned, just one of those happy accidents that add humor to a scene. Also notice how all of the wires disappear when it's all viewed from behind, which is how they'll be installed on the inn's front yard, right behind the fence.

You know, that same effect could be used for a firing squad.  Anyone modeling Utah in the 1970s?

Of course, depending on how your marriage turned out, the net effect could be the same!

Depending on the couple, suits are not mandatory at a wedding.  I've only been to a few in my life, but of those, only one was "formal".  My sister, and her daughter, were both married in street clothes.  Nice dresses, yes, but still something wearable on multiple occasions.  So the photographers here aren't necessarily out of place.

The one formal wedding?  The marriage lasted about six months, and the groom, at least, has never remarried - after 47 years.  I was only 16 at the time, met the bride for a few minutes at the event, and have no idea what her name was.  The groom is my Mother's younger brother.
