Me: Locomotive...
Wife: Cool what is it..?
Me: NYC steam locomotive.
Wife: Dont you have all of those?
Me: Yeah but this one was listed for parts so I was able to get a decent deal on it.. and fix up a few of my other vintage items
Wife: Does it work?

lol.

I've bought boxes too.  At least yours had parts in it.

I bought the Shay box from Germany for $25.
I bought the E8 box for about 15.

Noooo... Model Railroading for 35 years we've been married 7 years.. anniversary tomorrow actually...

She has some model train stuff... She collects Smokey the Bear, some of the Halloween stuff..
and Anything with 'Dixie' on it.. (Her late Mothers first name)..
So L&N, NCSTL, and stuff like that..
I found her a NCSTL Consolidation for Valentines day..
And I just found her an NCSTL Mountain with sound.. (for $85 :) )
I suppose for an anniversary gift, but I forgot to send her a link for what I wanted.. so I'm in trouble for not doing that..

I feel sorry for you guys.  My wife fully supports my hobbies. Oh wait, I have no wife.  ;)
But my GF also has no problem with any of my hobbies.  It's been like that for 23 years.  I guess I'm lucky.

Never a big problem with my wife but one day it went away completely.
She asked me ‘Why would you rather be down in the basement than being upstairs?“
I said “Why don’t you get a Hobby other than making To Do Lists for me?”
She stomped off and got into Quilting.
Best.    Thing.    Ever!!
No problem anymore...she may never catch up with me but it is only because she got a late start.  Huge stash of Fabric and other accessories...sewing machine(s) aren’t cheap.   Ca-Ching!.
She used to spot Hobby Shops as we were driving; now I find Quilt Shops for her!

Well since I don't have one of those NOW.................The EX supported my hobby for long time.  She knew when I was out, 98% of it was about TRAINS/Model Railroading.  Wasn't out supporting the local BAR, wasn't out at the GIRLY[you know] Bar etc etc.  I can NOW go to the Train Shows, Swap Meets, and Conventions as I like.  Only thing I have to worry about is: Who is taking care of the DOG, while I'm away?
DIESELS!?!?!?!  We don't need no STINKIN' DIESELS!!!

I love the old 172's. My fav, is a 60's 210. Haven't flown in 13 years or so. Trains are a lot cheaper.

:)  Charlie Vik, I agree since my wife is a quilter, too.  Besides her own quilting, she also recently joined the area Project Linus group that makes quilts for disadvantaged and sickly children.  A busy wife is good!

Ex-wife the first time she saw my trains, "who's going to dust all that crap?"

New, keeper wife said, "I don't want you to have to tear down all of your trains so I'm OK with living in your former marital residence."  She earned a down to the studs kitchen remodel/exorcism before we moved back in.  That was 10 years ago and the trains keep rolling and expanding!
Best regards,

Roger
