A New Run of Athearn 28-ft Trailers

Athearn is showing a new run of 28-ft pup trailers for delivery in early March.   :?

http://www.athearn.com/Search/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=28+Trailer&CatID=TNV

Edit:  The Athearn website now shows "Due Early March."  I am not sure if that means early March of 2020 or early March of 2021.

That's a big bump up from the last run.

They don't show the year so they don't have to keep changing the date.  I'm still waiting for their ACF CF-4600, announced in Dec 2017.

That is for two trailers.  Street will be under 35 which is less per trailer than for, say, Trainworx. These are quality trailers, but I think have the ones I 'need'.

I'm confused.  The Estes, YRC, and XPO trailers have been out for months now (I have some of each), but the ad copy says *New Release.

Gary,

I am hoping that Athearn will soon be sending out the pdf flyer for these.  I initially found the the trailers listed on Wig-Wag LLC's website, and was also confused with the "repeat" of some road names that were released just last year!

http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/trailers-3

If you follow the link to Wig-Wag's site, you will see they have the ETA date listed as February 2021, which is what I thought was also the month and year on Athearn's website when I first visited it.

But, that was rather late in the evening, and my brain may not have processed the information as well as it should have.

Here's Athearn's PDF.

http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/022820/10_N_28'_Trailer_022820.pdf

I don't see where it says 'new release' but to me that could still mean a new release of a previously run scheme.

I don't think they've done UPS, Motor Cargo, Transcon, or Old Dominion before, so those would be totally new release.

(Hey, also more Automaxes!)

Looks like I'll be ordering a set of  Transcon and then a single axle Freightlner cab over from
Royale Models to go along with them. The tractor needs a larger fuel tank if I remember correctly.. Sure would like a set of Carolina pups somday. Guess I'll have to do my own art work for the unmarked owner operator set I am sitting on. The YRC, UPS Freight, Estes and Old D should be popular.

Thanks for the link to the pdf.  The artwork for the XPO Logistics and Estes trailers appear identical to the trailers that were released last year.  Maybe they will have new numbers.

The YRC trailers have one trailer in the paint scheme released last year, and the other trailer in a different YRC paint scheme.  However, the YRC paint scheme released in 2019 had also been released in 2011 or 2012.

Athearn has gotten a lot of miles out of these pup trailer 2-packs since they were first released in 2006.  And, the MSRP in 2006 was $15.98 for the Consolidated Freightways, Overnite and USF paint schemes, and $16.98 for the Roadway and Yellow/Kansas Special paint schemes.  The 2006 release received the 2nd Annual Enhanced N Scale Vehicle of the Year Award at the Denver, CO convention.  http://nscalevehicles.org/vehicle_of_year/2006.php

It is hard to believe these trailers have been around that long!
