I got one the legs to print. I'm going to add a little more thickness to them and try it again.

Hey now, those actually look pretty good!  If they were painted up, they would certainly pass for chickens.  Send me a PM.  I'd like to compensate you for your time and effort and get some of those, if that's okay.

Why not just use single 0.008" Phosphor Bronze wire for "legs"?  I think that it would look quite passable for a pair of legs, and it can also be used to mount the bird into scenery.

"The cat, however drew hostile fire and was told it looked like a pile of butterscotch pudding"

We had a big orange cat that looked like that most of the time.  Very lazy, but also very friendly.

I do have to admit that if you're going so far to model accurate chickens, the sound will make people search them out where they might otherwise just pass it by without noticing.

I've added Aurdino MP3 and similar players to multiple locations, one for grade crossings racket, one for idling locomotives at the fuel racks, a standard bell, a looping tape of a steam sawmill working on the HVRR, and a new looping tape of the Jamison oilfield 'barker' powerhouse.

But that brings up another point related to the chickens.    What's the smallest identifiable detail you've done on your own layout that's actually been noticed by anybody but you?    May be worthy of a thread on its own here.   Could be scenery or equipment, right down to the rivets.  The flip side is that there's efforts that despite an incredible degree of difficulty to achieve, are completely unnoticeable.

Good idea. If you start a separate thread I'll post one of mine.

Chicken coop without chickens around it?  Surely you jest!  He would need lots of N scale chickens!  :)

So is it lurking around the corner, or digesting?
Because why not...

Or one n scale fox

For some reason I seem to recall that @Mark W already printed out some foxes.

My thoughts exactly.  I think the  most fun thing about this is that people will hear the chickens when they stand near the farm scene, which will cause them to look in the direction the sound is coming from, and THEN see the tiny chickens, hopefully eliciting the reaction, "Oh my GOD!  He has tiny CHICKENS!"

It's a lot like, "Wow... he has Alemite grease fittings on the side rods!" ... only with a less serious tone.   :)

LOL!

That is a perfect thing to showcase in the "smallest detail" thread.
