I picked up a Kato SP Daylight lounge car at the Madison train show last weekend to repaint into a bit better stand in car for the Texas Special lounge. It looks pretty good with the rest of the train. I'm happy with it.

I finally got decoders installed in all my Katy/Frisco passenger power this week. The Life-like E8's are factory paint that I weathered. The Kato PA's and E8's are custom painted pieces that I picked up at very reasonable prices at the Madison Train Show last weekend, and the Texas Special E7's are heavily modified Life-like units that I built and painted/decaled.

I haven't been very happy with the photos out of my iPhone XS, so I finally pulled out my 80D and re-shot some models properly. Most of these are not new projects, but I don't think they have had proper pictures taken.

How about some engine projects?
I bought a bunch of Kato SD40s when I was unsure what era I was modeling. These were gone by the mid 90's, but CR did conduct a rebuild on several dozen. These were upgraded with Dash-2 modular electronics and the engine and electrical systems received a deep overhaul. I stripped the factory Kato paint with a media blaster, and repainted. A few were from the first run and received new molded-in-color handrails.

Next up is my M420 projects from Briggs. These feature ESU Loksound.

I sure wish Dan was the head of the Proto/Model Acceptance Department of a N scale vehicle manufacturer .

I worked on the Missoula wrecker shed this week. Another Silhouette cutter project. The first picture is the blueprint. The second picture shows the shed in the background. It was covered with insulbrick which Michael Livingston calls, "the Swanson TV dinner of building materials." This was replicated with paper texture downloaded off the inter web. The next project is to build an actual wrecker.

Making some more background flats for my downtown LA scene. Found an old Heljan kit to use but didn’t like the window mullions...too clunky. So the grand achievement for the evening is this, breaking up the window panes with some 10x20 one thousands styrene strips. Not perfect, but good enuf for a backdrop 5’ away...Thank you Evergreen....

Well, Deep Woods module has been approved by the various Committees of the club, and made it into the layout for the Monroe Washington train show. Overall I've been pretty happy with how it has workout. I still have quite a bit of work to do overall. But the reception has been very positive. There's a few little quirks I got to take care of also with the track work, but nothing that has been detrimental or problematic. FYI, the trees that are on the module currently are not staying, I'm going to build and buy better trees. Here's a few pictures.
