We have a Caterpillar tow motor at work. To me it is a yellow with some red in it to make it slightly orange. I know that isn't a formula, but you could experiment and see if you like the color.
Are you talking the color of their Diesel engines, or the entire vehicles themselves? Just making sure.
Which CAT yellow? The old CAT yellow that was very bright based on chromate pigment or the current CAT yellow that is a mustard yellow matched with yellow iron oxide, red iron oxide, black and white pigments? I have access to official CAT yellow color standards and formulas of the CAT yellow topcoats supplied to Caterpillar. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any of this to folks here since it is proprietary information. The diesel engines should be the same yellow color as the machines, since they are matched to the same CAT yellow color standard.
Doug, not sure if you have a Cat dealership near you but you can buy it in an aerosol can that you could decant into a bottle to use. The paint they use is an enamel. Here's a link that may be useful for you. It has part numbers and paint chips. https://caterpillar.scene7.com/is/content/Caterpillar/C10508664
