Well, except AT&SF sets (ATSF owned no E7s of any phase).
But now that they have the basic body for the E7, it would be logical for them to produce some future sets with those engines, albeit with road specific variations.  Those Great Northern units posted earlier in the thread come to mind.

I knew I was forgetting at least one road.  But otherwise every other road that they have run did:
CNW
IC
PENN
NYC
UP
SP
CBQ
GN
MR

All had E7’s that could be combined with a set of 5-10 cars.  Now if Kato would do an E1 with appropriate cars, that would be awesome!

Question: Will Kato E7 variations come any faster than the Kato FP7 variations (count 'em!)?

(If they ever do the NCL I'm in)

I'm worried about low sales on this train, like the Broadway Limited.  I know a lot of people voted for it in the online poll, but looks like those same people are on Kato's Facebook page saying they thought they were voting for the earlier version with a streamlined Hudson.  Yikes.

I'll get one, because its a Kato Name Train set.  And I'll take all of those I can get and hope they continue to release big tooling like this.

But that lull after the Broadway Limited, where they seemed to be hesitant to do big tooling again, was painful.  And I'm afraid that's where North Coast Limited's and real Empire Builder thoughts go to die.
I didn't very the for it, since I wanted a '38 consist. And I won't be buying this one because I already have a very nice train with f units, I don't need another for a railroad I don't care about.

But had it been a '38 with a Hudson, I'd have a pre-order in already.

They had two releases of the MR scheme and the models are not that old. Couple of years old I think. The FP7 is a secondary passenger locomotive at best in the proto world. While I would rush to buy a Northern Pacific version if released I would expect I will be buying MR in UP yellow/gray/red long before that. How many versions of the E8/9 have been released?  A ton.

MILW or CMStP&P, not MR (Model Railroader?).  Took some reading before I could figure out what you were talking about......

Sorry about that Charlie!  It is just Milwaukee Road (MR) to me.  That is what I saw growing up.  They merged into Soo when I was in jr. High, mid 1985-86 ish.

While I'm not on FB, I was one of the modelers hoping for  the legendary Dreyfus Hudson-powered train from the late '30s.   :)  After all, we know that Mr. Kato loves pretty American steam locos, and the NYC streamlined Hudson in its light gray livery was one of the prettiest locos out there.  But instead, we get another Big Boy.   Sure, it will be superbly engineered, but we already have few Big Boys out there.

I am very disappointed, but I'll buy this set too. If my Brass Hudson can pull this train, I'll run it with this unprototypical consist.

Didn't Kato come out with few more SP and ATSF sets after Brodway Ltd.?

I also would have jumped on a Hudson powered train, I got enough EMDs. Need more steam power.

Came out in 2017. So far, one style, one road name.

I think the Daylight set was just before the Broadway.  And ATSF sets after the Broadway were mostly rereleases of existing tooling?

There was a long era of rereleases and minor tooling updates (like the UP excursion cars, CB&Q Silver Streak, etc.) until the Olympian Hi was released.  Word at the time was the sales of the Broadway were slow, and it delayed other name trains from continuing.

My bet is that you will see it in UP scheme before we see it in any others.

Honestly in looking at who owned FP7s the fact that they made one at all is impressive. When you factor out the roads that Kato doesn’t even know exists there isn’t much left to run.  NP only had 2???  As did UP.
SP is your next best bet, especially if they wore Daylight.  Penn seems unlikely, E7s for a third run BL seems way more likely. Maybe Rock Island with a small passenger set.

Looking at some internet photos, I need to check references for better side shots, it looks like Maine Central 710 and 711 might be phase II units. If that is the case a pair of Kato units is definitely coming to my paint shop.

There's a better chance of a named train getting made if it has a unique locomotive than a common one.  Then it's about how much time and tooling the locomotive would need.  The Little Joe lost out to the FP7 and I've heard that the Rock Island TAs have an issue with their wheelbase.  I do think we'll see these some day but worry it will just be the Texas Rocket version.

Erm, hasn't every single named train with the exception of the daylight been offered with some forum of an F unit?
