Mark's layout,
Columbia and Western
, made the cover of the 2020 Model Railroading Planning magazine. At 8 pages it is a substantial article. The article features the CP engine house that made the "Weekend Update for many iterations last summer and fall.
Congrats to a great modeler and Railwire contributor.

I have seen that layout in person. When it comes to layout design, engineering, planning and construction, Mark's is as good as I have ever seen. It totally deserves to be the star of
Model Railroad Planning
. Congratulations, Mark!

I agree with Max. I've seen it in person, briefly , and it is a magically engineered layout. Not sure how it feels during ops, but I know I felt like I was in BC in 30 years ago, trackside, just standing in it. I hope to go back and run some trains when they let me over the border again.

Congratulations Mark! I don't think an N scale layout has ever made the cover before - excellent news!

I drove fifty miles to a hobby shop to pick up few things and the magazine (which apparently has a Cajon article as well?).
They were sold out of them already, was told the issue just “flew off the shelves” ! suspect Mark’s cover had something to do with it...
Congratulations, Mark! Having had the pleasure of visiting your amazing layout in person, I can understand why the cover would sell well. Nicely done...

Wow, huge congratulations. I’ve also been lucky enough to see it. Masterful work in all regards. Prototypically accurate, operationally entertaining, recognizable and believable scenery, with a lot of complexity compacted into a limited space without seeming to be overly complex and, because the viewer is so immersed in the layout, the layout seems expansive.

Congratulations Mark! Having your N scale layout in the cover is a clear indication of the high quality of your modeling.

thank you for your kind words gentlemen..they do mean a lot.
I am quite happy with the article and that (49 exposure Helicon) cover shot which I think I may have test marketed in a TRW weekend update!
Now I just have to wait for the mag to arrive on this side of the border!
