I had a digitrax sound decoder sitting here that i never intended to use, but I threw it in my discount BLI i just picked up.  Doesn't sound half bad with a decent speaker.  Now i just have to get some replacement wheelsets for these dumb traction tires.

I painted and detailed a couple of Kaslo cabs I bought years ago and never used, to be placed in a scrap yard.

Is that corn?!  What was used to model it?  What color paints were used?

Nate's got it right.  It was Japanese "astro-turf" for putting greens.  Charlie Vlk brought it back from a Kato business trip years ago.

The base color was Floquil Weyerhauser Green.  Plus highlights with other stuff.  It's held up OK for 20 years.

The first RS-18 is pretty much done. I just want to replace the handrails (stanchions have been ordered and the rest will be made from wire) and add a Tsunami. Here it is at Dawson Creek, BC (with a photoshopped sky, all I have is a module in my living room with no backdrop).

Well I recognize that scene!  21st crossing behind the old Scott National warehouse - well done.

Thanks Mike!  I don't know if it is the angle the photos were taken, but to me that astro-turf corn looks better than those injection-molded N scale corn stalks.  The coloring also seems more natural.  I suppose that from the side view the molded corn stalks probably looks better.

Thanks Tim! Your photos on the BCR/PGE Group were very helpful for modeling that scene.

Bluford Corn looks 98% good from one side, and about 40% good at 90 degrees.
This looks 75% good from all angles.

I'll try to snap some more photos next time I'm at the layout.

I think I’m finally done with the Relco UP MOW train. I finished up the control cab and the backhoes for the crawler car. I also added some loads to the well cars. 35” of MOW fun!

Hey Karl,

I just passed the 1:1 version of of that exact MOW train where the UP main runs alongside highway 30 about 35 miles west of Clinton, IA.
It’s in pristine new condition. Your models nailed it perfectly!
