Given that shadows are in exactly the same place on the MT artwork, I am tempted to suggest that same photo was photoshopped to remove the reporting marks and produce the artwork.

A lot of the official Pullman photos look to be taken in the exact same spot outside the factory.

Nice! Very excited about this... Would be especially nice if you could do the early and late rib variations...

Like that, but 631513.  Same position, might even be the same building in the background.  Different time of day.  Maybe they were just rolling them out one after another for beauty shots at the factory.

This is awesome news! Please make the "running boards" etched metal (not whatever organic material it was that was used on the 4427s ).

Some info here: http://www.railgoat.railfan.net/ps/ps2_2bay.htm

From a link on Mark5's list- B&O 631513

Mark5- thanks for the link to the rosters.  Will save those of us for whom dates are critical a quick reference.

We can see why they chose the car (using the MT criteria)- 1) SP had some  2) New Haven has some  3) North American Leasing had a bunch painted in many private company schemes.  The only thing missing- Ringling Brothers did not have a single one.  But that probably won't stop an "elephant feed car" and an "elephant fertilizer car".

The early production cars with the channel end ribs that Atlas DOESN'T offer would have been a better choice...unless they plan to offer both versions...

I think it's later than that.  The demo car was built 6-53.

Jason

Hat end ribs (per the car shown in the announcement) replaced channel end ribs in 1957

The Atlas car isn't bad, but it is Trainman-level tooling.

New Haven script please.  And body-mounts with correct ride height, as most of the other covered hoppers are.  And trucks with center-hole bolsters.

Kadee has had an excellent HO model of the prototype for years, so hopefully the two companies still share resource information.

I presume MTL will offer the same roadames/paint schemes that they've already released in Z...hopefully on a model that doesn't look like the Atlas N car with jacked-up bolsters...

Another vote for the channel end ribs for the NH fans amongst us  :D

Looking forward to these. I’ve got a bunch of the Atlas ones that I have modified by sanding the roof walks thinner, adding body mount MT 1015s, Kato brake wheels and metal wheels. They look decent and I appreciate the paint schemes they have released (especially the MStL one, which is kind of a signature MStL car to me) I have always felt the roof hatches are a bit weak. Hey, maybe MT will release them as a separate part so I can retro fit my fleet?

I am also doing a CGW car by adding a middle rib and modifying the non ladder end to match. Hard to see in photo because of shiny black paint

Why? Not a dang thing wrong with the Atlas PS-2, or the Athearn version. Why?

Athearn didn't make this model. They have a larger capacity 2 bay PS2 and a three bay. The Atlas version is several decades of and the end bracing isn't very delicate.
