Thanks Dennis, info and link appreciated! As to the grades, yes the curves do add extra friction. I “compensate” my grades by using a straight level across the (longer) arc when setting the grade. Works pretty well…Otto
Dennis,Although them paper switches are probably a lot cheaper I don't think you're going to be satisfied with their performance I watched your video on the new track plan design and am looking forward to seeing it come together.Scott
I'd never heard of it previously TBH. Usually I'm not big into talk streams, but I'll give this a go. It should be fun.
Thought I'd share some of my luck over the past few months. A friend of mine who happens to be a Boy Scout leader in the Oklahoma City area was having a conversation with the father of one of his scouts when he learned that he was a Model Railroader and a Staff Photographer for White River Publications. My friend mentioned my Layout and showed him pictures from my Facebook page. That led to an exchange of text messages between me and the photographer who thought he might come out and take pictures some time.I wasn't sure what the process for publication was so I reached out to Dave Vollmer through The Railwire. I knew he was a published modeler and might offer sound advice. To make a long story short I took a crash course in model photography by binge watching every video on youtube that seemed relevant and useful to a model railroader. Armed with scant knowledge of photography I took what felt like 10,000 pictures of the finished 2X8 section of the layout. (The Timesaver) Dave provided me the email of Chris Lane the editor of the HOn3 Annual and I sent some sample pics of the layout. Chris was gracious enough to allow me in this years publication. Otter Creek & Rio Grande a John Allen inspired Timesaver Layout. All this happened in the last two or three weeks of September while I was stressing over a job loss and getting sick with Covid! It all worked out well, I got a great job/promotion within my department without having to move. I survived the Rona and managed to get published in the HOn3 2021 Annual. A warm congratulations and thanks to Dave for his stunning photo on the cover of the HOn3 Annual and a wonderful article on how to make commercial track to look like the real thing.
