I will give you three guesses as to what bone headed mistake I made on Harvey's Hardware. It was a case of staying up too late and pushing too hard to get things done. ~Dennis
Are the window frames are upside down or the crown molding is on the bottom
Dennis - I really like the structures you are building. I'm not familiar with any of these kits as I mostly scratch build, but they are nice.My guess on Harveys Hardware is - No Heat source, I don't see a chimney or a smoke jack anywhere.
The only way I caught that was I am currently working on a plan for building the CM Granite Depot and I am cutting the top trim off the Grandt Line windows to match the ones in the prototype photo. I looked at those pics over and over and it all looked great. If you woud not of mentioned something wrong for us to challenge our eyes they would never be noticed. Its still a great looking building !
Dennis- I know of only two Leadville Depot photos from back in the day, the famous trackside Buckwalter photo and then one showing the back of the depot around 1918.Both of these are in the Morris Cafky book "Colorado Midland"If you dont have that book - I reccommend getting one. Be paitent as they turn up on ebay quite affordable. I purchased a second to have on the modeler bench for $30.00 several mnths ago.
Dennis - how is the book "Silver Rails", does it have a lot of historical pictures ? Im really on the hunt for pictures of the D&RG operations at Leadville.A few more books on the CM to keep on the lookout for -The Midland Route : A Colorado Midland Guide and Data Book by Mel McFarland (My most Favorite of all my CM Books)Colorado Midland Railway , Daylight Through the Divide by Dan Abbott (Great coverage of the Big Storm of 1899)Roaring Fork Valley An Illustrated Chronicle by Len Shoemaker (must have for any CM fan)And if you are intersted - May 1989 Model Railroader has scale plans for the C&S Leadville Station.
The Midland Route : A Colorado Midland Guide and Data Book by Mel McFarland (My most Favorite of all my CM Books)Colorado Midland Railway , Daylight Through the Divide by Dan Abbott (Great coverage of the Big Storm of 1899)
These two are critical references for any CMRy fan or modeler.
