Very nice space. Now you are going to this amount of trouble to build a room make sure you curve the corners of your backdrop.
Makes a huge difference to the look of the RR.

Rod,
Yes, I have several things to consider as I move forward.  Solidifying the final track plan is high on the list so I'll know the exact height to construct the bench-work.  I'd Like to have a full valance for lighting and of course a curved back drop.  If I plan well enough I may be able to put the backdrop and Valance up before the bench-work.

Thats and awesome place you have to house your empire.  Ive been looking forward to the updates on this layout.

Great little buidding it needs a wooden statue out front common to that era!

Thanks!
A Wooden Statue, that's a great Idea. I'll keep that in mind as I add details to the town.

Looks great Dennis, I envy your space.

There's a prototype for everything.
If you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable.

Thanks Scott,
I've been in the hobby off and on since the late 90's and I have never "driven" a locomotive more than 8 feet in any one direction.  I'm really trying to curve my enthusiasm to start bench-work and slap track together to run around the room!  I have a lot left to do but I'm determined to do things right.  As I recall, it was you who suggested finishing the small town of Malta before I moved on to the larger layout.  I still plan on doing that.  A few more structures and scenery and that goal will be accomplished, though I missed my original deadline of October 1.  As with most things these days I blame that on Covid-19, I lost at least six weekends this summer due to work issues related to the Rona.  As it stands right now January 1, 2021 seems a good date to actually start the larger layout.  That should give me time to:

heat & air
Carpet tiles
Finish Malta
Optimize wood shop
Finalize track plan

Thank you!
Just waiting on the contractors to install the mini-split.  Hopefully they will get to me before the end of October.  My goal is to start Bench work the first week of January 2021 *fingers crossed for a better year*

I've competed another couple of structures.  Chillery's Cafe and Harvey's Hardware.

"Merchants Row" is nearing completion.

I will give you three guesses as to what bone headed mistake I made on Harvey's Hardware.  It was a case of staying up too late and pushing too hard to get things done.
