What incredible progress in just one year!  2020 was awful in so many ways, but not for your layout!  Your buildings are spectacular, by the way - I am envious!

Thank you very much.  Most of the progress came in spurts! I have a work schedule change in a few weeks and I hope to have steadier progress this next year.  *Crosses fingers*

Dennis,

When you first proposed this layout, I thought to myself, "This guys is about to bite off way more than he can chew!"  After watching your work for this past year I'm now just quietly sitting in the corner eating a large portion of crow.  Your modeling skills are outstanding, between you and Dave V. I'm getting hesitant to even show any of my work here.  I'm sure we will see your layout featured in the HOn3 annual at some point as well.  I very much look forward to seeing more of your work in the new year.  If I could make one very small suggestion it would be to reconsider the use of the cork road bed on track other than the dual gauge "main line".  It seems to me that  Colorado narrow gauge railroads used very little if any built up ballasted road bed for their track.  Near as I can tell most of the track was knock off the brush, throw down some ties, spike down the rail and throw some dirt on it.  Either way your layout looks fantastic, BZ.

Scott

LOL, There were several people in the beginning that I could detect a little bit of "yeah right" in their replies!!  I still have a lot to do though, Peter Sutton, Rod Warren, & Dave Vollmer have provided more than enough inspiration to keep me going. What I've seen of your layout also looks amazing!

Yes, I have regretted laying the roadbed on the Time Saver every since I did it, I doubt I will use any roadbed moving forward.
Sometime before the end of the month I plan on re-posting an updated track plan, I'm now to the point that I must make some major decisions on what I'm actually going to model.

Thank you very much Scott, I appreciate every comment you have made on my progress.

The music for the channel comes from a couple of different sources.  I have been a Military musician for the past 26 years.  In fact the space that is now my model railroad was originally going to be a recording studio, but I decided I would get far more enjoyment out of the space by model railroading rather than recording. (best decision ever)

The intro and outro music for most of my videos is a song a friend of mine from High School wrote, Dirty Shame by Scott Nance   He is playing the dobro and singing.  All the other instruments on the song are me.

The 2020 Year in review video features Dan Jordan who is a fellow Army musician that is in my reserve unit.  The two songs are "Roots" and "Dancin With the Devil."  Several years ago we cut a demo for him just playing acoustic guitar and singing.  I took those recordings and produced them in my own home studio. I play most of all the instruments on those two recordings as well, with the exception of the lead guitar work on "Roosts" which is performed by Bobby Wolf who is an active duty Air Force musician that was in our reserve unit for a while.

Thank you very much Mark.  I hope I can get scenery details to match the structures.

Another completed structure.  I'm not completely sure what the finished scene will look like.  I need to do some research on this type of coaling station.  I had considered it a dealer for locals for home heating needs but I suppose it could have also been used to refill a tender as well??

The only structure I have left to build for the time-saver is some corrals.

Dennis,

Outstanding as usual.  As far as loading coal into tenders I think you'll find that for the most part that Colorado narrow gauge railroads, if they didn't have some kind of "automated" coal chute (ie Vance Jct or Durango), a gondola on a raised spur was used to shovel coal directly into the tender.  Ridgway and Ouray being examples.

The last month or so has been pretty busy for me but I have been productive, just not so much on the layout.  I have focused more on the layout room and the workshop than finishing the Time Saver module.  A few of the more notable things are carpet, a workbench and If I haven't mentioned it already I also have heat and air.

I've completed a radial arm saw station that should make building bench work fairly easy and any other woodworking related issues that arise during construction of the future layout.  I still need to complete sheathing the walls in the shop area but that should go much faster than the rest of the building has. *crosses fingers*

I took a little break from shop/building issues and completed the backdrop to the time saver module.  I plan on focusing on completing the scenery and the remaining structures before I start on staging for the future "OC&RG"

Dennis,

Looking good, I like the work bench fancy schmancy   The back drop looks great, wish I had a knack for that.  I've been following your video and look forward to what's next.

I’m glad you like your radial arm saw. I got rid of mine... worked ok as a chop saw, but not for ripping. Much easier for me on a conventional table saw or even a hand circular “skill” saw with a fence. But YMMV, so don’t listen to anyone if it works best for you.
