Folks, I had started and am still tinkering with a MK5000C model The chassis is a Atlas SD50. Due to the short wheelbase trucks, I though a Kato RSC2 would due (a bit too short), but I grafted the mechanicals onto the Atlas power plant. The shell is sheet styrene, with radiator assemblied and grills off of an SD50. The cab is mostly atlas, with modifications. I am hoping to use Atlas handrails for most of the unit. There were very good drawings published on line by Tom. H. Fassett dated 2009(I think on Railroad Forums), a recent re-reach could not locate them. Likewise there has been a complete manual for the loco published on line. Extra 2200 South issue #102 also has pictures from the manual. Lastly, there is a DVD of the units on the Utah Railroad that I had went through, frame by frame to try and get good roof shots.

Awesome!!! I love seeing these builds take shape.  What side frames are those? The Briggs M630?

Hello, Yes the sideframes were by Briggs. I had already did the whole RSC truck thing and was planning to cement some flexicoils together to get the sideframes when I learned about the Dofasco trucks from Briggs. I am guessing they (entire truck assembly)  will be a far easier solution to the drive train issue. Still have to do the rear headlights some other details.

I have been working here and there on one. I have a colleague that is better than I at 3D. Have not had as much time as I would like but here is a rough idea.  This is sitting on an on an SD 50 mech which is a tad to long for the walkway, deciding on the way forward but I put it on an  630 mech and it works great. I need to get a few pics of it together but here she is

Wow, that looks great! Once again proof that once someone builds a model, the shell (or whole model) will become available. I'd be down for one.

I see that someone shows one of those shells coming soon to their website.  Looks like a passion to build one.  Looks great!

I have been waiting on my order from Briggs for some of their Dofasco Trucks for the Atlas C628/630 since May.  This will be the second order that from them that seems to be forgotten. I was told a month ago it would be out in a week with tracking and still nothing, no replies to my inquires. So not sure when I will get around to finishing mine.

it is a work is progress. 3D printed, currently it fits on a Atlas 628/630 mech. I started it that way so hopefully I could use Briggs Dofasco trucks. It has been real slow going but hopefully this winter I will be able to get back to it.
