@spookshow

Mark, did you order both the Rivet Counter and regular line or just one?
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

For a long time I hated the NS Dash 9.

And sometimes I still do.

But then again, they also remind me of all the fun I've had out railfanning in the past 15 years, so I'm starting to come around.

Those look like nice models.

Got my two Santa Fe rivet counter versions today.  They look absolutely beautiful.
I got the dc versions so I can install my own esu sound.   I’ll post some photos of the sound conversion after I get the 5dcc esu decoders.
Why didn’t I get the esu sound installed version you may ask.
Reason; The previous C39-8 with factory sound was a little disappointing in the speaker department IMHO plus I Pre-ordered these before the new ESU 5dcc next 18 decoder came out and I want to put that decoder in these.

Mine arrived today; look great, sound great, ran great right out of the box.  Only downside, the plow is very low, these are not going to run well on modular layouts without modification.  Pictures to compare Scaletrains Dash9 on the left, Tier 4 on the right.

Haha!  I think it was you that caused me to start calling them “Douche 9s.”   :D

I can't get past the idea models are so detailed, they make everything else look toy like in comparison.

To a certain extent they look too detailed maybe?  Sometimes I wonder if some details are maybe over scaled (I doubt it) to make them noticable, and they stand out where I wouldn't notice them in the prototype.

Maybe it's the detailed photos and lighting to make things stand out..

Great models (except the protofist couplers).. just noticeably above the competition.. But that's how things improve.

I don't think its the plow solely, I just think the T4 Body is higher than the Dash 9 body. If you compare pilot deck heights you can see the T4 is higher as well. All the widecabs should be the same height. Shouldn't matter if its an AC4400CW, Dash 9, ES44AC, T4 GEVO, or a AC6000CW.

I suspect I'll be getting an email from my LHS before long with my two UP units arrival. I've been told these should come with LokSound V5s, can anyone confirm this?

Attempting to model a modern Southern Pacific based in 2015/2016...

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...

With direct comparison, there is a small degree of embellished panel lines on the models compared to prototype. Not extreme but I guess its a tradeoff to get those details on a plastic N scale model.

Just wondering, what about the Operator line? How is it detailed and are the details that do need to be added, are they pre-painted or are unpainted like the HO detail parts that you have to order separate? And isn't packaged different? For $99.99, I gave thought to ordering one.
Thanks, Ralph
