Nice scene. Clutter is good - real life, you know. One suggestion, tho' - in my various forays into some pretty grungy scrapyards, the ground is much more black from oils and greases than it is rust-colored. It may be because the rust tends to get flushed into the soil and the oil stays on top.

Been making snails pace progress on the layout. Happy to be working on structure kits again, and this RS Laser kits model has been fun. Still needs a roof and a few details. Anyone have a good recommendation for N scale standing seam roofing?

I use Evergreen V Groove siding with some .010 x .020 strip glued in the grooves.

My first modeling this Fall. 
Between layouts and houses, I've had this Walthers Prairie Elevator kit for a little while. 
It is a nice kit, but like a lot of Walthers kits, it has some unsightly seams.  Filling the seams with Bondo @peteski   



I've also been making some more trees.



And, trying to rehabilitate the Redi-Mix/Coal Trestle portion of my previous layout trying to see if it will fit and be apart of any new efforts.

I figured out how to cut a coupler pocket a little wider and file down the shank on the couplers to get a ScaleTrains bulkhead flatcar to negotiate the curves on my layout without dragging the adjacent cars onto the ground.  This picture shows the before and after of the work on the coupler shank.  Success!

The two-part or one-part Bondo?     The one part glazing putty gives satisfactory results when only thin applications are needed.

Good to see you doing modeling.
I haven't built many structures lately (I work on other projects), but few weeks ago I worked on a station building for friend's layout It was a laser-cut wood kit which didn't require any putty.

Like I've always said, if you're modeling is satisfactory, putty shouldn't be necessary.
I'm sure many would be completely happy with the results of the kit as built...not me.   

I should add that I have also used some Gunze Sangyo Mr. Surfacer on this kit as well, however the Bondo is much better at filling the wide gaps in kits like this.
