I like it, Ed! I do note that there is no passing siding, but the sidings all face in one direction. Is that prototypical?
I can sleep easily with it.
My recon trip up to "The Skook" prompted me to make some changes to the layout plan. I REALLY wanted to get Good Spring in there and I realized I could pass on Weigh Scales. It took me a while to figure out how to pull it off, but I think this does it. It ALSO explains a bit of my scenery plan. (Attachment Link)
Edit: Nevermind, I see you're combining that into the Zehners siding.Don't forget the team track near Good Spring that got a reefer or two of potatoes,Phil
Oh yeah!Today siding has taken on a new role after seeing that particular operation in action.
I can't find it but I found a picture of the reefer at the team track with the ramp and a trailer pulled up to the edge. I think they unloaded right into the trailer,Phil
Hey Ed, I don't know if you haven't heard of it, you should look up a layout called the Slate Fork Branch. It's a Southern Railway coal branch set in late winter/early spring, and it's built on a HCD. Reminds me a lot what you are doing here.
Not photo worthy, but last night I glued down all my pinned down cork.I still have half the layout to cork, but I'm waiting to resolve my curved switch situation before I do that.
Then you can slather everything in a layer of olive drab paint. See the latest column by Tony Koester in MR.He calls it the perfect base coat for Appalachian area scenery. Plus, it gives the layout something of a finished look while construction progresses.
