That's an average of 1.067 ceiling tiles per year.  Not bad.  :D

Yesterday I received a new Atlas Russel Snow Plow. Today I started detailing it. I’ve lowered it, added a front coupler, brake line, light, and horn, aa well as fitting thinner running boards. I still need to fit the coupler lift bar, it’s rather prominent on the plow. The light came from a left over bit of Atlas GP9 shell, the horn from a Kato RS2. Oh, and FVM wheels.

I’m interested in learning more about how the front coupler was created.

I’m interested in learning more about how the front coupler was created.

Tom

It’s made from a MTL short shank True Scale coupler and a piece of 0.060” square styrene strip. I used my soldering iron to fuse the two half of the coupler, then shortened it and filed an angle on the underside. I filed a curve into the end of the styrene and then superglued the coupler on the bottom. I then cut the other end of the styrene to the approximate right length and angle, then made a notch in the end with a nut file. This was then superglued onto the plow. Which reminds me that the prototype has two access doors here that are permanently open which I need to model.
Here’s the prototype:

I completed three 2x8 tables to complete my two 20’ runs. I need to attach all the tables together and screw down the homasote boards. The new layout room is starting to look like a train room.

After 15 years, I finally put the last 16 pieces of ceiling tile in place :)

Now you can no longer say the ceiling is unlimited .

I finally got the beast of Kern Junction ready for installation:

Not quite in time for last week's VanRail, but hopefully in time for the next one - in 2 years   :P.

I scattered old bits of track around and scratched my chin while drinking beer.

@rickb773, thanks for the memories.  I'm sure I have some of those cars in a dust-covered box somewhere.  And the herky-jerky motion of the pre-flywheel locos - I tossed those about two days after I bought my first Atlas Kato engine.

No modeling for me this weekend - museum time!

We ate a delicious barbeque with these two beauties simmering alongside - Frisco 1630 and J. Neils Lumber 5.  Later, during night operations, they doubleheaded all the wy to Johnson siding about four miles out - slowest run ever!

Sharp-eyed viewers will note the North Shore Electroliner in the barn in the background.  They're in the midst of a multi-year refurbishment to the interior and driving system that will come out of the shops like new!

IRM is perhaps my favorite place in the world.

Agreed!  I was fortunate to have visited the Illinois Railway Museum in August 2016, while we were visiting family nearby.

Felt decent enough yesterday to make  and “plant” some happy little trees as well as tosson some more ground form on the ttrak module at the LHS yesterday. Now to work on the tar and chip road that’s going to be on the right side and gather some other details to finish
