I know CSX has been purging locomotives and I'm trying to figure out who's gotten some of the cast offs.
I know CSX has been purging locomotives and I'm trying to figure out who's gotten some of the cast offs.I know the Reading & Northern got two SD50-2s and Pan Am has a bunch of C40s. Who else?
Eight GE's are going to the WNY&P to replace the six-axle ALCo's. I believe they are AC46CW's and five of them are from the CSX 5000- number series.
The Alcos are going down?
Yup. That's been prognosticated for a while.
Well frack - now I have to schedule a weekend in NY to photo them before they evaporate.
Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp. got CSX SW1500 1100, ex L&N.Kentucky Railway Museum got another SW1500 -- I believe 1102 or 1103.I believe the SD70ACes were in PRLX (Progress Rail, aka EMD) leasing service but I believe they've been sold onwards. Will update if I remember who got them.
"Just" the six axles. They've become too much of a maintenance chore apparently. They do use them quite heavily on the Keating Summit getting to Driftwood for rock and stone. The 4-axles are safe for the moment.
I am way behind on this thread, but if you are planning a trip please let me know. I might be able to burn a vacation day and meet you up there. I am 1 hour from Driftwood. Ron
